I have to replace the front wheel bearing and it looks like I have to take the whole assembly off. It is not 4wd
Question, removing it from the lower portion and unbolting the top nut, is it sprung? Meaning is there tension between the upper and lower when I remove them?

Okay, just to be clear, "removing 'it'" , I imagine you're referring to the hub? After you jack up the truck BY THE FRAME to remove the tire, the suspension is unloaded. That answer it? If not, be a little more specific, if you can and let us know.

I need to get the steering knuckle out to have the bearings replaced.. I just like to be sure with that kind of pressure. The old stuff I used to work on were always loaded.
