New Trail Rig Suggestions

So I've been thinking about getting a new truck for going off-road. The mud in souther Louisiana eats metal alive and I don't think it want my TRD Pro to get eaten up by it.

Things I want in the truck/SUV

• High amounts of power, V8 if possible
• Reliable
• Easy to work on
• Cheap parts
• Cheap mods
• Cheap in general

I haven't looked around too much but wanted some suggestions from more experienced off roaders before i went head first into a project.

NOTE: This truck does not HAVE to be a tacoma, anything under those credentials works with me.

 

Old broncos are plentiful in my area, although central new york salt and snow eats them up. Aftermarket an junkyard parts-a-plenty. Short wheelbase,v8 and room for 4.
