I know a lot of us like to capture our adventures, build progress, and other activities using our GoPro cameras. Whether it be our love us Tacomas or other activities we all enjoy such as biking, hiking, racing, cruising, etc. we call all agree we are an active group.

I have designed, developed and tested a mount for GoPro cameras that has been very useful to me over the years. Why did I design my own mount and what sets it apart from GoPros lineup of mounts? I wanted to mount my GoPro on my mountain bike in a place where no existing mount would work. It worked where I needed it and I found out it worked almost everywhere. I'm confident the versatility of my mount is much greater than any single existing mount.

First, check out my Instagram featuring my mount @KOMOsport to see my shot of the day challenge and many cool videos. Granted, some of the ways I show my GoPro mount are purely for show and not practical but I think you'll see the versatility of my mount in a lot of the photos.

You can also visit www.komosport.com to purchase a mount.

The mount is 3D printed out of strong ABS plastic filament.

For starters, here's a couple recent shots:

    Bare Mount:
    FullSizeRender.jpg

    Bare Mount Side:
    FullSizeRender (1).jpg

    Mount w/Strap:
    FullSizeRender (2).jpg

    Mount w/Strap Attached:
    FullSizeRender (3).jpg

    Small Supply of Mounts:
    FullSizeRender (4).jpg

To match what this mount can do you'd have to buy the GoPro Pro Handlebar/Seatpost/Pole ($59.99) mount, the GoPro Large Tube (for rollbars, etc. $39.99) mount, GoPro Pro Seat Rail ($39.99) mount, and the GoPro Gun/Rod/Bow ($69.99) mount. Not only this, but to switch your mount from place to place is as easy as unhooking the strap and mounting to your new spot. No mounts to switch or screws to tighten.

The strap stretches and allows you to 'wrap' your mount over almost any shape and many different sizes.

If this is something that sounds interesting to you, just shoot me a PM or visit www.komosport.com .

Added a few videos. Please feel free to check out my YouTube channel for more videos!

Can you post up some of the places that you have used this mount? Just for some ideas on how versatile these are...

No problem! Here's a sample of some of the photos I have on my Instagram account showcasing the versatility.

This is actually the spot that started the idea in the first place. As you can see it's a very odd shaped joint on the bike.
    FullSizeRender (1).jpg

Took it camping and found many cool and oddly shaped mounting points.
    FullSizeRender (2).jpg

No need to buy a "selfie stick" when you can literally use any stick.
    FullSizeRender (3).jpg

Want to make a auto detailing tutorial video but don't know how to get those up close shots?
    FullSizeRender (4).jpg

This shot is purely to show an odd mounting point.
    FullSizeRender (5).jpg

And another mounting point that's not really even a mounting point, but with the mount you can make almost anything a mounting point for your camera.
    FullSizeRender (6).jpg

    More biking angles.
    FullSizeRender (7).jpg

Also works for a lot of standard mounting points.
    FullSizeRender (8).jpg

Another 'non' mounting point can become one.
    FullSizeRender (9).jpg

Similar to the auto detailing tutorial videos, any gym rats could mount their GoPro all over the equipment to get the best video.
    FullSizeRender (10).jpg

If you're a car enthusiast you can find all new and exciting places to capture races or just driving around for fun.
    FullSizeRender (11).jpg

I used this mounting point to capture video of my new Pypes mufflers on my old Cobra.
    FullSizeRender.jpg

But remember, these are just a small sample of mounting points. As far as this forum goes, think mounting your GoPro in cool spots underneath your truck while rock crawlin' or offroading. The options are virtually endless.

Very interesting! Would love to see some video you shot with this mounted on a MTB or truck...The key to a good mount is how secure/vibration free it is. Also how much are you asking for these?

I'll try to transfer some of my videos over to a YouTube account to post them here. Right now they are currently just small clips on my Instagram account "KOMOsport". Price is $25, but 20% off for TacomaWorld memebers... or $20 plus shipping.

VERY interesting and cool. Quick comment/suggestion? The plastic part of the mount could potentially scratch or scuff a painted surface. Have you looked into adding a piece of rummer of the same material as the strap to the base plate to protect the finish? (I see you have used other material on some of your photos) I really like the design! What is the largest diameter tube you have installed this onto?

Thanks BamaToy! I'm always open to suggestions/comments. One of the previous posters I sold two units to also said the same thing. I'll definitely look into add some sort of thin layer of rubber (bike inner-tube thickness) to the bottom. Should be fairly simple to build a negative mold of the underside and then sandwich the rubber in between the two with glue on the mount side. As far as your other question regarding the diameter of tubing... I designed the mount to fit over standard roll cage tubing, which is 1.75" in diameter. I actually don't have access to a roll cage so the largest tubing i've used the mount on is an Olympic weight lifting bar ends which are 2" in diameter. The mount obviously works (it works everywhere!) but it wasn't 'snug' around the bar like it should be on a roll cage.

Very interesting. I do like this design. Have you just done basic field testing, or have you done stress and load testing? This design is impressive for sure.

Basic field testing only (although extensive). Real stress/load testing would be a great addition to a description of the product.

I can hook the straps on and pull very hard without mount failure. The straps i'm not worried at all about failing, they are made to hold bikes onto a rack. I guess my biggest concern would be the lateral movement/shock the three prongs could withstand with a GoPro attached. I use a Hero2 (sometimes with the Wifi backpack accessory) which are quite heavy compared to the Hero3/4/5 and all my testing is done with that Hero2. SO, if you have a Hero 3 or newer I wouldn't be concerned at all.
