Bed storage container ideas

Yeah, we got one of those totes for our food storage because they are fairly air-tight too, plus sturdy enough to sit on.

 

Tonight I built a rack from 80/20 Inc. extruded aluminum for even more storage room. This will hold my HiLift and light, but bulky camping items. Depending on available room, I might put my OZ Tent diagonally, and MaxTrax on the side. Will see!

Does anyone have a link for the totes in post # 202? I thought the visible label said 'Yeti', yet when I did a search for Yeti totes or Yeti storage boxes, I came up with nothing. Perhaps that is just a Yeti sticker.

 

They appear to be manufactured by Iris and sold under that brand and Remington. Prices vary based on brand, color and quantity. Those (I think) are the 82 quart size (

I recommend pelican cases, i love them. seal, safe, rugged, lifetime warranty. Check craigslist and you can find deals. bigger ones for bulk and smaller ones for hand tools in the back of access cab. I am no 3rd gen but you with access cabs and no use for back seats(kids friends) I made a folding flat bench for my dogs and when dogs arent there it is a perfect flat surface to stack stuff and still have some storage below.

The Dewalt Totes (

$216 DWST38000 Tough Chest™ Mobile Storage

DWST38000) have been holding up awesome. I left them in the bed of my truck for weeks in the pouring rain, went through two gas station car washes. Then I loaded them up for 8 day at King of Hammers in the desert. Most of the time we didn't even latch them. Everything in the desert is covered in dust, yet the totes are spotless inside. We also hit severe wheather coming back over Tehachapi

They worked out pretty well. I just threw all my personal stuff including sleeping bag into one, and @BROcephus had the other. They are big, but you can really load them up.

I got a couple of

$54 Sterilite 2-Pack Industrial Tote, Heavy-Duty Storage Bins w/ Lids and Wheels, 40 Gallon - Stackable Organizing Containers for Home, Garage, Office, and Basement

these a few weeks ago and just had a chance to use them yesterday. Two fit perfectly side-by-side in my short bed and slide in just under the tonneau cover. They should be great for camping gear down the road.

 

This Husky from the Home Dooseypot was under $20 and so far hasn't let any water in. I'm pretty sure it'll fit under the Gator Tri-Fold I just ordered too!

 

Anyone used one of these or seen them in person? I like the concept but it looks like the mounts cover the factory storage bins.

I haven't used one, but I have friends that use them on full size trucks. I like them, they fit under my one buddies tounno cover on his 2500 duramax.

If I have room once my setup is done I might try to add one to add quick access to recovery gear.

 

After you get your tonneau get a bed mat. You won't need to strap your container down anymore. Mine doesn't move with the Matt.

I have the Toyota Matt from the dealer.

 

I'm a fan of the Rubbermaid ActionPackers. Fits all the gear I need and doesn't take up too much space

 

Agreed on the oem mat.

But, my containers still shift around if they aren't strapped down.

 

How much weight in your containers. Mine doesn't move.

 

25lb in one.
70ish in the other.
Both are the largest Plano box without wheels.

And, my canyon cooler (35 I think) with up to 100+ in it.

They don't slide from normal driving. But any bumpy roads, gravel, etc and they go all over.
