I have that radio...works fine for trail rides. Mounted the box under my console and cb is routed into the console so it's stored when not in use.

I bought it for the size. I put my box behind the driver left foot kick panel and cut the back out of the change holder and the radio sits in there. When on the trail I just take off the change holder door and pull the cb out. Combined with a 4' firestick on a spring and quick disconnect mounted to the bed rail by the back window so I can just remove it and put it in my tool box when I'm not using it (I only use it on offroad trips).

 

Me too...I didn't want a huge CB to mount...the 75wxst was the perfect solution. 4' Firestik on a C4 Fab tailgate mount. Bought a Uniden Bearcat 20w external speaker and mounted it on a factory bolt in the passenger side footwell.

I mostly use it for offroad trips but sometimes when I'm bored in traffic in the morning, I'll listen to the crazy truckers conversations..they can be pretty entertaining...lol

Can you hear that speaker clearly? I had mounted one under the seat but my truck is pretty loud inside and it just sounded like a foreign language to me.

I had a cheapo speaker I got off Amazon (less than 10 bucks) and it was not really loud enough but this one is alot better. It would be best to have it closer to me, but it's nice and hidden where it's at.

 

Road King makes a remote speaker that is (using and old term) "Audiophile quality" . It has it's own separate volume control as well. I'm about to mount one on the drivers side door post just to the left of the headrest. I've tried it there (duct taped in place temporarily) and it works perfect! They can be found in the CB accessories in most truck stops.

 

Yeah you did. Eh I'm not too worried about them being on back order plus I got them discounted already. I'll be out of town next week and they said it would be shipped later on in the week anyways. Definitely getting a CB after all this talk gonna go with a Uniden firestik combo.

 

Any of you have an opinion on these?

I know it's not true sliders, but 99% of my driving is on road. If it provides just a little protection I figure that's better than nothing. I know Victoria would appreciate the step, especially if I ever get around to lifting/leveling.

 

brackets look like it bolts to the body like most steps. I would not use them offroad for that reason.

 

Looks like these bolt to the body and not the frame, like side steps. Do not use these as rock sliders but they should be fine for what it sounds like you need. LBL doesn't require rock sliders anyway so you have nothing to worry about.

The do bolt to the body, so I know they're not sliders, and to be honest I don't think i'd really be using them as sliders. My real question is am I worse off with them? I feel like I'd rather damage a bracket, or scrape a side step then my door and rocker panel.

 

Is there any reason you don't want sliders? At $289 for some steps that won't protect anything and at least have the potential to cause more damage, why not spend a little more and have no doubts?

 

I don't think this is a yes or no question. It depends. You can smash your rocker panel and not damage any other part of the body. Yes the step might keep that from happening but smash the step hard enough and it's gonna fuck up a lot more then your rocker panel. Also take into consideration that you're putting something in a place where there previously was nothing so where you may have not hit anything because of the height and width of the body, you now hit it because the steps are lower and wider then the body. So theoretically, without them you could've created zero damage and with them you smashed your rocker panel, ripped your body at the mounts and wasted $300 on side steps.

Having said that, I'm sure you'll be fine
