I had a quick question before I complete my swap over to the bilstein 5100's. Is it essential that I replace the upper bushing/rubber mount on top of the strut or will it be okay to go back with tha existing hardware? Just seeing what others may have done before. Thanks

I suggest you get the whole complete strut assembly, its well worth it and the old springs are most likely worn and need replacing any way

that way you don't get into it and find you need just about all new stuff in it any way

What do you mean when you say "complete strut assembly"? I have looked at Toyota parts schematic and it doesn't even show so of the parts I see on mine.

Yes, I already have the bilstein 5100's that will be replacing my old KYB's. So I would need just a new spring im guessing, if I decide it needs replacement

Id get new top hats aswell. There cheap and good to replace while your doing the shocks if there still original.

yep I would definitely put new springs, the old ones might look fine but the sag over time

if somehow you can return the shocks you already bought, its better to get the assembly so its all new, rubbers, boots, cap, holders, all that shit has to be reused but can degrade and be worn out, just something to thing about

look at these kits http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&mvsub=1&_mcatda=true&selfil=2,3,1,4,5&selvel=Toyota~Tacoma~2001~Pre%20Runner%20Crew%20Cab%20Pickup%204-Door~3.4L%203378CC%20V6%20GAS%20DOHC%20Naturally%20Aspirated&_nkw=front struts Toyota Tacoma 2001 Pre Runner 3.4L

it doesn't look like bilstein offers a complete assembly and everything must be bought separately with them, that kinda sucks
