I want to relocate my solenoid on my XRC Gen 2 9.5 to a more easily accessible location. Has anyone done this? Is there a write up somewhere on how to do this that I am missing? Thank you in advance.

I have mine mounted horizontal and to the left of the winch mount on a custom bracket. The only limiting factor should be the wire length.IMG_0201.jpg

Did you ever do this? I am getting ready to buy a winch and I know I will HAVE to relocate the solenoid. What was your ultimate goal/location in doing this on your 3rd gen?

I relocated mine into the engine bay, it's pretty straight forward, just buy battery cables for the length you'll need, disconnect the old cables and relocate the solenoid, then re connect with new longer cables

I just put a Smittybilt X2O Comp Series 10k into my 3rd gen with a CBI T3 bumper so a bit different than yours but if you don't want to run new cables to move it to the engine bay this is how I did mine. Had some scrap aluminium around. Need to shot some black paint on it still.

I do have the wireless controller but plugging in the cable is doable from here also. Eventually I will likely move mine to the engine bay but for now this is G2G.

Sorry hard to take pics from decent angles now it's all back together. Hopefully you get the idea.

    Hey Grand Dude
To be honest I haven’t had to use it over the last year other than to do a few unwind/wind maintenance cycles. No recovery so no real world connecting.

If I felt inclined to and I didn’t have a wireless remote I think an improvement could be to lengthen all the wires from the winch to the control box to allowing it to be mounted higher therefore having easier access for connecting the wired remote. To reach down and flip the winch electronics switch is pretty easy though.
