Leaf spring swap.. again

 

Finished the install of the new Dakars. Few things that I noticed were the bushing eyelet is tighter and doesn't have the 45° cut at the end of the hole bend which essentially is making that hole more rounded out. The leaf pack braces seem to be taller on the back and front end a hair. I also had to remove one of the center pin dividers to get the bolt threaded all the way on after I added AAL as the center bolt only had about 3 threads showing. I super greased everything this time. All the bushings and the areas between the leafs that didn't have dividers. Feels much much more smooth now and no barn door creaking which lead me to believe the poly bushings were binding. I should have taken a picture of the leaf spring eyelet as one of the bushings actually started to get an indent. (I'll add pics where I think it was hanging up)... either way rear end feels and sounds completely different.. oh one more thing. Truck is pulling more to the right now. When I had the truck jacked up I had to move the axle to get the center bolt head into the axle both times by pushing the axle forward to get it lined up.

Maxtrax are in the near future. Wifey high centered herself in her Jeep Cherokee. Used the hi-lift jack and shoved some fire wood under the tyrs.. Would have been a hell of a lot easier to just throw some maxtrax under there

Going maxtrax. Buy once cry once. I've seen those take some pretty serious abuse and have been watching the comparison videos. Also @Mademan925 has a write up coming out on a bunch of different products and so far his feed back is that non of them particularly out shine the other. However I've seen the tred videos and they tend to crack pretty easily. I think @CollegeKevin said they are coming out with either a new design or composite.

I might have to digress on the maxtrax comment. Even though the packing or stacking of them is very very attractive. The fact that Nick is saying they are getting beat to shit after 4 runs is discouraging. Simply I'm not going to be a sponsored overland guy and won't be in th market for continually buying fresh recovery treads for my truck. I'll highly consider Maxsa due to the durability. However The new TRED Pro look awesome but again pricey
