Yea at this point I'm screwed because I can't install springs to take it to a shop to do it. :(

It seems weird that the shackle won't rotate any more. Do you have the double military wrap to the front of the truck?

The all pro rep I talked to today told me that the letters on the leaf springs need to be behind the axle, so no military wrap is in the back on the shackle.... please don't tell me he was wrong....

Hate to tell you but he was wrong. That military wrap is a leaf that is only goes half way across the spring pack to reduce axle wrap and should be to the front of the truck

IMG_3141.PNG.jpg Hard to see in this picture but if you look at the clamps of the the front of the pack in this picture those are the same clamps you have on the rear right now

Yea that is backwards. Those clamps you have on the front allow for expansion in the pack and should go in the rear which will maintain a decent pinion angle at droop.

Yup, military wrap goes to the front.

Get a buddy to help you using the method I described: one wiggles the axle with a floor jack while the other person aligns the leaf pack. Use a pry bar as needed. It should be a simple install.

It can be done with just one person for sure. just easier with an extra pair of hands.

But still....one side at a time! that works best

I installed mine by myself so it's definitely possible by yourself. It's been a while but I think I bolted up the shackle to the spring, then the spring to the front hanger, the the shackle to the shackle mount. The bolted the axle to the springs. Might have to loosen the carrier barring and or use a ratchet strap to move the axle in to the right place to get the center pin to drop into the axle.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I've had leafs in and out a dozen times with no help. So I may or may not know what I'm talking about here. (And I'm sure to be told I'm wrong......but at a dozen successful times, well...)

    In this order:
Work one side at a time.
Use floor jack to help, have the handle where you can reach it.
    Military wrap goes forward.
Mount leaf to rear shackle. Don't torque bolts down.
Mount shackle to frame. Don't torque bolts down.
Work leaf into front hanger. Use a prybar on the leaf, and a deadblow on the bolt. Use the floor jack and your leg/foot for adjusting. It'll take a bit of work, but the bolt will all-of-a-sudden line up and pop in. Don't torque bolts down.
Mount axle to leafs. Tighten bolts, but don't torque down completely.
    Repeat with other side.
Center floor jack under differential, and raise to jack's maximum height. Clear out all tools and living creatures, then suddenly drop jack all at once...the idea is a violent, sudden drop of the whole truck.
With truck weight now fully loading leafs, and truck on ground, torque all bolts.

Yes, I said do the front last. Easier to work the prybar this way.

Don't hesitate to use the deadblow on stubborn parts. Unless it's sheet metal, you're not going to hurt it.

Thanks man I have already taken out both sides because he said I needed to both switch left and right and that I put them in backwards so switch them around...

It's been a very ting night and hopefully I didn't damage any parts! And that I can get the leaf springs back in the holes with both sides down heh
    And thanks again

If anyone can damage a leaf, it's me. Believe me, you can wail on them with a 30# sledge and not hurt them. Be aggressive, and you'll get the job done.

My last time with them out. In fact, I took them apart leaf-by-leaf, and that's a PITA.

(Axle swap because I bowed my original)

It's amazing how easy they go together when you put them on the way your supposed to.... haha oh well at least I know I can trust this forum.

You guys are the best, the only thing I can think of I'd the lettering on the leaf springs is different for expos vs standards
