Hello there. My '98 Tacoma is not shifting properly. It started by not being able to be shifted into gear. The clutch pedal was all the way to the floor. I pulled the clutch pedal forward and it popped back into its proper place. I am now able to shift perfectly 6-8 times before it does the same thing again. I pull the pedal forward and it works fine for those same number of shifts. I checked the fluid in the slave master cylinder and it is at its proper level.

Master cylinder is facked. Get a slave and a master cylinder most likely. Depending on how many miles you have on your clutch might be time for a clutch job. Sounds like the push-rod in the master sticking though.

Full fluid doesn't always mean proper function, as you have found.

Agree w/clutch master failure being most likely culprit. Master, slave, new fluid and bleeding are in order.

Same exact symptoms I had when the master cylinder crapped out.

Yep the others are right. If your master is dead your slave is likely right behind it. Replace them both so you don't have more work / cost later. Look into bench bleeding the master before installing too. You don't have to do it but it does save a good amount of headache.

Don't go cheap on these parts.

I went through a couple master cylinders from AutoZone when I was short on cash. The unit would leak at the firewall after a few weeks.

Real pain in the ass to do this job three times.
