DIY - Build and install a Bussmann RTMR Fuse/Relay Block

Yeah, I have to unbolt it to access my firewall unfortunately, but I should never have a need to access it again, as I have pre-wired for up to 10 switches. But if I do it will be very easy.
I can also still reach the plugs for my accessories just have to reach underneath it.

I've got mine all installed and working now! I followed your under the hood lighting writeup as well. Very thankful I ran across this thread. I was wondering if you'd have a suggestion on how to get 12v power to the rear of my truck for other accessories like bed lights, water pump, air compressor and anything else I want to run off the 12 volts. Would you suggest another fuse block in the back with relays? I just want to do it the right way and am looking for input. Thanks in advance! Here's my Bussmann install too.

 

That looks great! Well done!!!

As for 12v to the bed, I'd install a 2nd Bussmann in the bed. And similarly to how you installed a positive and ground to/from your current Bussmann, do the same thing but make it longer to the bed.

Now with that said, perhaps you might consider a dual battery install instead. If so, put the 2nd battery in the bed and run another Bussmann off of that. But consider this...if you're running new cable to the bed but not doing the dual battery setup, you might want to install cable to the bed that would be able to handle the 2nd battery for the future, something like 1/0AWG instead of just 4AWG. That way, if you choose to install the 2nd battery later on, the cable run is already complete and you don't have to redo it and spend more money. So think about the big picture of what you want to do and go from there.

 

Thanks! I will look into doing another one then. I do have plans to setup a dual battery system but I think I am going to do it in the front with a Luna kit. I still need to do more research on them.

So I just built one of these and bought a mounting plate for it. I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport and there are two threaded holes in my engine bay right behind the relay box. Anyone have any idea what thread/size those inserts are? I'd like to use those to mount my setup to.

 

I have a 4eunner and they were m6 bolts. I would assume they are the same. Can't remember the thread count. Sorry

Anyone have a source for switches that are color matched to the OEM white/blue color?

I've looked at ch4x4 and mictuning switches. If there is no close substitute I'll just go with white switches.

 

Anyone able to make me four wires to plug into the bussman? Think I need the female with weather seal. For 4 fuses to be added. just like a foot long
