Heard that. I just figured id run it by you all here. I actually was expecting a different response from you guys. I've spoken with several people over the past couple of months (both Toyota enthusiasts and financially responsible people) and the large majority said it is always a good idea to consolidate debt when i can and if the tacoma is a dependable platform that i can trust to have higher mileage and I'm ok with having/maintaining an older vehicle then go for it.

I agree debt consolidation is a good idea. I am some what biased as I waited a long time to get a Tacoma. Back in 07' when I bought my Xterra I was looking at Taco's and 4Runner's as well. I talked my self into saving like $6k by buying the X over a Toyota. I regretted it with in a couple months.

well I'm getting the exact same truck just older and with more milage and a couple less bells and whistles. The functionality will be the same. And it may not be this exact truck. I'm more so talking conceptually here. Basically buy an older 2nd gen and swap all of my stuff onto it and sell my truck and be rid of a truck note

With all the awesome parts you have it would still be a sweet truck for sure.

Yeap still running good. The only problems I have come across was bad wheel bearings and I'm currently beating my fan motor to get the fan turning.
Thought about running some stuff called bg44k in it to clean out the internals. Still doing research but supposedly it's the best stuff out there yet. Still skeptical though.

100mi/day commute. Had 90k on the clock in 3 years. Sold the 2nd gen while it was still valuable.

Bought a Jetta to drive to work. Found the 01 with 54k miles. Bought it. Playing with it. Loving it. No regrets.

the new truck is sick!!!!! this is my thoughts as well. I looked at the jetta wagons. You can scoop a sweet used jetta wagon for cheap. 54kmiles is ridiculous.

Sometimes you gotta do what makes sense. I'm sure you will figure out what that means for you and yours.

The Jetta is awesome. It's crazy how cheap they sell. I paid $7k for my 09 2.5l with 29k mikes on the odo. The taco, on the other hand, let's just say I had to pay to play.

Cool truck but most of your parts wouldn't fit.
