Ok. I hunted around and didn't find any threads.

I've got a 2016 Tacoma. I'm not going to spend the bucks for an onboard air system. That's just too much $$ for something I don't have a lot of need for.

That being said, I would like a compressor for when we go camping, bikes and an emergency tire inflater. I was looking at a unit that has a jump start batter - but they all seem pretty wimpy. It would probably do - but maybe there are some better options.

    Any suggestions?

I just came across this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VROSSK...46F734ZQ5YMC#HLCXComparisonWidget_feature_div

I'm not crazy about it's tacticoolness - but I do like that it comes in a hard case (like the ARB).

For a portable jumper - this looks pretty sweet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MQ5Z5F...UTF8&colid=8U5FJ7HE68S7&coliid=I1XG8AAU4MRPN8

    Thoughts?

also, I would suggest the antigravity jump starters on Amazon.

Noco batt jumper is good. Thanks @ramonortiz55 for that. For a compressor you won't use often just get a little cheaply on you plug in the 12v outlet.

I payed up for this one, but it's a beast and I think the price went up a little...

But I can air up my 33s in about 90 seconds a tire.
The power is more important than auto shut off to me and more heavy duty than the smaller ones...
The gauge is not accurate but consistent..
As long as it last, it is well worth the money..

I'm in the same boat as you op. Looking for a air compressor for camping and kids toys and bike tires and the occasional emergency tire inflation. I bought Sears craftsman compressor a couple weeks ago and took it home to try it out and I wasn't impressed with the time it took to put 15 psi back into my truck tires. So took it back. I've read a lot of good reviews on this one here VIAIR 300P Portable Compressor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X90YUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xUvMybVVZ026W and will be getting it as soon as the wife wants to get something. Just need some bartering amo. It's coming. I see her shopping for baby stuff. I can hear the ups driver knocking on my door.

I am not sure if the 2nd gens have 120 volt invertors or not but has anyone used a cheap harbor freight compressor like this from the outlet in the truck box ? Edit- it only draws 2.6 amps , and if I figure correctly the 400 watt outlet is good for 3.33 amps at 120 volts.

Good question. I was wondering the same thing. just curious if the outlet could handle a compressor...

I have a husky 2 gallon compressor I use around the house and last year I used it with the bed outlet to air up my camper tires and the truck tires after some beach driving. The compressor never had an issue with anything I used it for and the truck powered it no problem. I do have the tow package though so I have the bigger alternator if that makes any difference.
