Im new to this forum and also working on my first lowered Taco myself but have been doing lots a research. From what i have read, belltech springs drop is based of cab weight, not engine. So a standard cab gets a 1 inch drop while an extended cab gets the full 2 inch. All the standard cabs i have seen with belltechs have had to cut their springs to get the other inch.
As for your tire rubbing and bottoming out issue, Im at 2/3 currently and hit my frame constantly until i replaced all my shocks with KYB Gas-a-just in front and Monroe air shocks out back. I also recently upgraded from the stock 205/70 on stock 15s to 245/40 on 18x9.5 with +20 offset and still no issue. The real test will come this week when i get the ball joint flip, c-notch and blocks installed for the 5/6 drop.

I imagine its more of a lack-of-market for the Gen1 4 doors. The Gen2s do have more market which makes them easier but from things i have read, they have frame cracking issues once C-notchs have been installed. If i remember right, the issue is from the "crush" zones created in the frame for crash safety ratings.

If you used the bolts for the u-bolts/lowering blocks and for the lower arms, without seeing them, my guess would be for replacing the bolts on the upper arms.

Recently I have been thinking about lowering my first gen tacoma and have researched a bit and wanted to get some input on what I might do, whether I might be rubbing or if something better is recommended, any advice helps!

I was looking at the 3/4 DJM drop kit with the upper control arms and the steel blocks in the back. Also doing a ball joint flip. My goal is to have to eliminate the wheel gap, so to have the top of the tire just about where the bottom of the fender is, so not insanely low but low enough to look good. I am also going to be running stock rims and to what I believe is the stock tire size, if that will affect rubbing or anything else. Any tips help!

im having a hard time following the 4wd leaf spring swap.
I have a 03 Taco 2wd, I have the front figured out lowering 2-3 with drop coils but the rear is where im lost.
I can get my hands on a set of 04 4wd leafs, do I need the shakles from the 4wd set or can I use mine

No, the stock shackles are fine. Just make sure to remove the 2nd leaf for the full 3 inches. If not you will only get about 1.5 inch drop.
