2006 2.7L owner w/ problems

Joined Tacoma World not too long ago and have been lurking around here enjoying all the mods and things guys put up on here. I finally decided to introduce myself and my 2006 2.7L Reg Cab. 4x4. I love the truck. I bought it new with 0.0 on the odometer. I have only done secondary air filter removal so far. As soon as the tax return comes in I'm putting a spacer kit on it with pro comp black crawlers and 33" BFG A/T's.
I just changed the oil in it today after the maint reqd light came on. I tried holding down the trip button as I have read that that "resets the computer" or whatever? That didn't work... The stupid TPMS light has been blinking for months and the dealer wants 40 bucks to turn it off. All of the tires are at precisely the same pressure and still will not reset with the button under the steering column. The other thing that has been irritating me is the rattly catalytic converter. I think it is the one closest to the muffler. Do any of you suggest taking the pipe off and beating out the inside of the cat? It is really obnoxious on the freeway and I would like to "fix" it before I throw down the money for the complete exhaust upgrade. Any replies are appreciated.

 

Welcome to the forum! When you checked your tire pressure did you check the spare also?

 

hold the trip reset button then put key in and turn to the on or whatever position without turning it on. hold till all the buttons are gone for 5k intervals for maintenance light

I used a piece of black tape to cover my TPMS light. One of my sensors went and I've got better places to spend $125!! Just take the instrument panel out and cover it up if you don't want to see it, that is after you've ensured that ALL the tires are aired up identically.

I checked all tires including spare. One of the sensors must be bad. I think I'll just pull the led and keep the sensors out of the new wheels. Thanks. I'm just doing the spacer lift for now so I can admire what the bigger tires look like. Down the road I'm doing the all pro long travel kit so I'm not going to make a bigger investment than the spacer at this point. Thanks for all the advice.

 

The sensor that is in the tire can be reset at most tires shops. It is simple and straight forward.
