Hello Tacoma World! My name is Gary and I'm a Tacoma owner. Right now I own a 1999 Toyota Tacoma and it's time for an upgrade. I'm highly interested in the new 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro mainly because it's a Toyota, the look, and the features it comes with. I just wanted to see if it was worth getting an off road truck because I will rarely, if ever go off roading. I currently drive approximately 500 highway miles a week for work and personal transportation. Please tell me about the pros and cons based on my type of transportation. I just really love how this truck looks but I don't know much about off roading. Any help would be much appreciated. Money is not an issue.

Gary, Welcome... honestly it is up to the end user! (You) all the trd models have there ups and downs. As a non offroader i would look at the sport or the limited.
All the trucks are very capable offroad even stock. I consistently go down trails and take the truck off the beaten path with no issues(sport model) and if i ever wanted to add a locker and 3" lift down the road i have that option. Plus i would save alot of money. The only reason i would ever buy a pro is for that cement color.

    Also
I get decent gas milage. Im running 4 wheel drive up here and lots of idle for warm up at -30 and still getting 17+ mpg. Im guessing it will be better this summer in 2wd. It does have some road noise that can drown by the radio. And to that i'm upgrading the audio. Some have complained about the auto trans shifting. I havent had an issue with mine.

Added auto start and more for camping/exploring this summer.

Your'e in a good place to hear opinions ;)

Get whichever you like. This is a bad place to come asking for advice because it usually turns into an argument and people ragging on each other lol. If you want the upgrades, and can spare the extra 5k or so, I say go for it! I mainly got mine because I love the Cement paint color, and heated black leather seating.

I wouldn't buy a top trim level driving 500 miles a week, if you aren't going to use it to the extent of it's configuration.

You'll pay a premium, and then drive the value way down with your weekly mileage.

Pro resale might be better than a Sport or OR, but not a high mileage Pro.

If money isn't a concern then go nuts. Otherwise, you're looking to be under water, more than likely.

I love my TRD Pro. I doubt I really use the off-road capability. I just like 4WD. And I just like all the stuff on a TRD Pro. So that's what o got. ZERO buyer's remorse, too. I love it.
