last weekend I removed the weatherstripping and paint over the holes in the roof in order to install oem roof rack. One hole had no threading. Took to the dealer Wednesday night. Since the holes where open I covered them with two different tapes. When I left it there I told the service manager not to leave it outside with open holes so that no rain or snow could enter.

The manager called me yesterday that a Toyota big shot was coming on Monday to see the truck but he wanted me to bring back everything that I took off. I told him the only thing I took off was the weatherstripping. So today I take the strips to the dealer and I see my truck sitting outside with the hole in the roof that had no threading open to air where water can enter. I had tape with me so I recovered it. I will talk to him tomorrow. WTF dude!

If it did not rain or snow then you are obviously fine.

I could not tell because i left my key at home and I looked in through window and did not notice any dark areas. I covered the hole again with tape. I will see on Monday, fingers crossed.

Snow has to melt before entering hole.. you should be fine.. perfectly normal.

    Probable operator error...

Toyota big shot to look at hole without threads?? Wow... what they going to give you a new roof??

Sounds like a robot missed the weld and QC didn't catch it... truck build Friday afternoon by chance??

Sounds like you're overreacting. Don't be that guy at the dealer.

I'm "that guy" from the day I made my purchase... and made a scene when the sales mgr lied to me and raised the price $1500 because of "a lot of interest in the truck" after I had a deal in writing.

Promptly took it to another local dealer for scheduled service... they practically begged me to come back... meh.

That's shit you walk out the door on. They aren't the only toyota dealer. Find a reputable one and go there. Never understood why people get jerked around by car dealers. You don't have to business with ass hats

I don't understand why people feel the need to create a new thread over something they feel is an issue at their dealership before talking with them first. Maybe they moved it outside during the day and have it parked inside at night. Not all dealers have the capacity to keep vehicles inside per a customer's request.

I'm a service advisor and often times have to bite my tongue. I'll have customers come in for an oil change, complain about the cost and inform me the drain bolt needs to be torqued to "xx lb ft" because that's what they read on the internet. Well then, have the internet change your oil jackass since you don't feel confident having us do it for you.

No, another manufacturer. I don't want to mention the brand since it could come back to bite me in the ass some day.

Got it, no worries. I've been there. I was a dealer service tech before.
I totally understand. Customer has to be taken care of, even if it may mean your tongue has to bleed a bit. Sometimes gotta let them watch from a safe distance to reassure them while their vehicle gets pampered. But you'll get repeat customers and loyalty for both SA and tech.

So if the queen is the only female and she's back at the colony, then that means the three ants having "relations" are.... OMG! Who the fuck wants to clean that up!

Exiled and banned from the colony for being sensitive and "homo".... the unthreaded hole in the 3rd gen is their "safe place".
