Don't try to turn it over with the plugs in it. If it does turn, it will lock the motor. Water doesn't compress, and when the motor tries to compress it, it will bend all kinds of bad stuff.

It it was turned over with water in it, then a rebuild may do it. Depending on how much sand/dirt was in the water, and assuming it was turned over with all that in there, that's likely a replacement. That will have scraped the inside of the cylinder up pretty bad.

A ratchet set, a piece of fine sand paper and some wd40. Haven't looked on a 3rd gen before, but for a second it takes a 10mm to loosen the motor cover. The coil pack is a 10mm and then a spark plug socket. Your mileage may vary with it being a 3rd. Once you pull the plugs, wouldn't hurt to run the sandpaper 2 or 3 pulls across the plug electrode. Flip and pull 2 or 3 times on the opposite side. Spray a short shot of wd40 in the cylinder.

Edit: a flat and Phillips head screwdriver for the fun of it and something to dry the water out of the air box. You will have to trash the filter, you could drive it a short distance without it.

after all of this I was watching lifestyle overland on youtube do a snorkel install. when my truck gets to where I want it and I have the time to do what I want to do with it ill probably end up drilling a hole in my fender and do a snorkel install. don't need it yet since Walmart and publix are easy to get to.

Yo Alabama boys! Anyone near Florence, Al. There is a craigslist truck that I would like to have looked at before I make the trip from Louisiana. I'd be willing to offer some type of compensation. Let me know if you would be willing to go check a Tacoma out for me. Thanks

By the amount of dirt, I'd say they have been gone for some time. Crazy.

I just put a couple of the old U bolt nuts on and torqued them down. Guess this will be something I'll have to keep an eye on...

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
    was that the rattling?

I'm about to see, I still think that is coming from the lower ball joint. They are looking really rough.

Well I guess that was it! Took it for a spin and it's gone. I am flabbergasted

Something told me to check into it before I left town and I found that!

Would it be ok to put some lock tight on those bolts?
