selling my truck. stock super white TRD O/R.

ive noticed a significant difference in the numbers between kbb and nada. ive always thought kbb is kinda bullshit, and funny how pretty much all car and bike dealers just happen to use kbb. maybe cuz kbb's numbers on everything seem strangely deflated?

anyway, to be clear, we all know the popularity and value of this truck (and mine has factory short shift, good luck finding that haha) but i wanna price it fair.. what source is best for legit numbers on this thing?

Look at what similar trucks are selling for on cars.com, autotrader, etc... In the end it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Are you selling it outright yourself or considering a trade?

Assuming you are selling it yourself I would look at KBB, Nada and Edmunds first. Factor in everything and maybe take an average of the 3 and go from there.

Selling a vehicle is a pain in the a$$ these days but can be worth it if you're patient and use common sense when dealing with strangers.

You get hammered if you trade or sell it to a dealer; they take a big cut out of the value that you'll think the truck is worth.

I'm selling it myself, all the dealers around here wanna offer like 26k and I'm like haha yeah right I know what you can sell this thing for, no way I'm letting you make maybe 4k off the top for doing 15min of paperwork. All these dealers are one step above crooks these days. It's financed thru Toyota and I owe 29 and change on it, I'll sell it to some military kid or something.

Hmmmmm...... you may be SOL getting 29 from the sale, if you're looking to get out of debt. If so, that's your selling point. But, as stated earlier, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. edit: don't forget, your buyer will have likely visited a dealer to check their pricing and also checked NADA, Edmunds, KBB, Craigs list, etc. Buyer will likely have a target price based on independent research.
    good luck

KBB is pretty accurate. The site considers your location and surrounding sales for a price. You say you owe $29k. You might break even. The KBB on my 13 with 59k miles is around $27,800. Which is amazing. I only paid a little over $31,000 for it brand new.

KBB says 24500 on TRD Off Road with 21000 on it. Seem about right for a trade in.

^ This KBB is actually fairly accurate, most dealers and auction companies use valuation tools not available to the public. $26k is about right for trade in. Private Party-Retail on your 15 is probably $27-28k bud, especially since you have an access cab (yes they hold less residual value than the 4 door double cabs) and a manual which also is less desirable mass market, you can get a used TRD 16 for $31-32k easy. The fact they offered you $26k for an Access Cab Manual 2015 is actually a high/relatively solid offer for trade, your not gonna get much more private party.

The trucks literally have the highest resale value of any vehicle sold in the USA, as such I would look at comparables on Craigslist and others to figure a baseline. You won't get that trading into a dealer.

If looking to trade in go to multiple dealers and get competing offers in writing, and then leverage them against each other to drive up the trade in price.

Prices on those sites are what they are listing for not selling. I have seen some absurd list prices on Auto Trader. Prices are still good for a place to start.

Stock access cab is worth what a stock access cab is worth, short shifter isn't going to make it rain. $29k still on the loan, too?

I guess I'd hope to break even if I were you. I think you're only scoffing at $26k trade in offers because you are in a shitty loan situation and under water on market value.

$29k for that truck is unlikely, unless you're still the buyer.

The toughest part selling a vehicle if you owe on it with the bank or someone else. It makes it a lot easier if you have the title to it.

You won't get $29k for an access cab. The sticker on it probably only hit low 30's. Why would you finance that much on a vehicle anyways. Sounds like a few bad decisions were made and your going to be stuck paying the balance.

around here everything is marked up pretty high. in such a high population area AND with so many military, the tacomas are discounted by mere peanuts. if theres some guy who doesnt wanna pay X amount at the dealer, there are always 2 more who will and the dealers all know that. the sticker on my particular truck was about 33 and i got it for a bit less. bottom line if i did the trade in thing tomorrow, i know for a damn fact these shitheads would put it on the lot for 31500ish and someone could come in, haggle, get like 500 maybe 1k taken off at most and skate. its a case of buyin what theyre sellin' so to speak, at least around here. you want a tacoma, fuck you, ya gotta pay. =P

i wish i lived in idaho or wherever some of you ppl seem to live but in socal, theres no free lunch. everything that anyone wants costs a million bucks. yay capitalism? supply and demand is a bitch. meanwhile i'll sell the truck for like 29 even i think and call it a day, and the buyer still saves literally thousands off of msrp for the last of the 2nd gen, which has been babied with 18k miles on it.

then theres the elephant in the room.. lots of ppl dont want that 2016 beast. that thing. i dunno what the hell that is. looks more like a boat. so, there are ppl that specifically want the 14/15.. just like i did. pretending this is a 26k vehicle is crazy talk. its 26 in nebraska but in san diego its still like 30 on the lot =P i dont know why i live here, sometimes. haha. then i remember when i jump on my R1 =D
