Thanks for the recipe! I would have never thought to smoke the tomatoes and tomatillos but I'm definitely going to try this.

My BIL in Ohio said his didn't turn out as good as mine. Told him to add a drop or two of mesquite flavoring to it as he cooks on a propane grill with no flavor chips. But he also drives an F150 so he is pretty much untrainable...

Love them ! When tomato season is in I'll have a tomato sandwich just about everyday. For blight use Bravo (fungicide) before starting to pick, then add manzate for late blight. Walmart sells a tomato mix (spray) with copper in it that works decent. My favorite would be a (picus) Roma. I know, it's a hybrid. Good taste, good for sauce, freezes or cans good, and produces a lot.

Love them on a sandwich. Not much for eating them raw.

I just 'test canned' 10 pints in my BD present, a pressure cooker canner from QVC. Will see how it turns out.

Here in the South, a good tomato samich is a meal. Two pieces of white bread, some mayo and a couple slices of tomato and we are in heaven. No mushy ones either. The best tomatoes are from Blount County. Sand Mountain to be exact. Something about the soil up there makes them taste so good.
