    surprisingly, nothing.

Truck has been fine, running normal. Went skiing off Loveland pass today, was slow to start up when we were leaving - i passed it off as altitude and temperature.

we're driving down 70 on our way home and my electronics start acting funky. radio, dash lights, etc, all acting weird. Had a bad feeling at this point.

Pulled off at Idaho Springs to check battery terminals, etc. Made it to the back of the parking lot of the McDonalds and everything died, was able to roll it to a nice, secluded little area.

Popped the hood, bat and terminals all good. Nothing blown in the fuse box. Didn't throw a pulley. Waited a couple hours for AAA to tow me back to denver, now i'm at work finishing up some stuff I couldn't get to on Friday evening. Will Tow the truck down to Groove tomorrow if I have time after work.

I need to just suck it up and have a lot of things looked at at this point...thinking alternator died and then I ate through my battery.. UGH. :annoyed:

Open up your fuse block box and in one of the corners is the master power supply for the fuse block. Mine came loose and started acting funky like that and it turns out that just started to work loose and not making contact. If it is your alternator i have a stock one you could get or jump to a bigger one.

    Plethora of "useless" shit
Sucks man. Hopefully it's just the battery itself and not the alternator. The last battery I had went through a couple of hard starts and then just completely went, nada, nothing.

Thanks guys. I'll check this stuff out tomorrow after work, truck is not with me now.
    Hopefully it's all the battery...

Circa 2005ish. My buddy used to date this chick, who when introduced to me...was wearing a Gravedigger shirt. I said, you into Gravedigger! She replied.."oh, you have no idea"

So I think my buddies ex girlfriend banged Gravedigger. Fun story.

I think it was you who mentioned an FJ case can be swapped into the GX to make it selectable instead of all time 4wd.

Do you have any links by any chance? Searching seems to yield a lot of talk but no good info. Or I just dont know which forums are good. Just want to get an idea of what is all involved, what years it works with, etc. :spy:

Cool, I'll get a better one tomorrow... I found stuff about the shackle flipping back, but nothing about it flipping forward

I had corroded battery cables once that gave me those symptoms. Corrosion was deep down inside the insulation making it hard to diagnose.

    Stuff and junk and things...

The electronics will be a pita.

Wyatt at Rocksolidtoys would be your best resource. He pioneered the FJ case swap in 2nd gens and other models.

Meh, that's not what i want to hear... Was hoping it'd be somewhat simple. I'd be fine with an electronic one vs a manual shift if it were an easier swap...

I lost interest in them after learning that they are full time 4wd, and was hoping that the swap might be an easy solution. I'm not really wanting to have to drop a ton of money up front to remove a soccer mom drivetrain. :pout:

    I guess the search continues.

The T case should bolt in, same trans, but to keep the electronics happy and not have a dash lit up like christmas will be the harder part.

The one time I had this same experience it was exactly this:
thinking alternator died and then I ate through my battery

    Hope I'm wrong though.

Is it truly "full time 4WD" or the lessor cousin AWD? Don't think I have ever heard of full time 4WD in any non-military vehicle.
