I'm looking into buying a Tacoma in a double cab long bed and was wondering if anyone had any issues getting their game in the back of it? I'm big into elk hunting and those aren't small critters to be sure. The only trucks that I've loaded elk into have been Dodges, so I wanted to be sure that a Tacoma would be able to bring home anything. My vision for my Tacoma is a 2nd gen DCLB with a topper with a rack on top where I can store my gear, so it frees up the entire bed for game. Is that wishful thinking or has anyone done something similar and had it work for them?

I've had two elk in mine. I would suggest AAL or a complete new spring pack before doing it though.

I've added a ton of weight to my Tacoma. Literally! 2000 PLUS POUNDS! Buy some airbag overloads, add a leaf, and you'll be golden!

    In progress...
Just did put all four quarters of a 1000+ pounds bull moose in the back of my 3rd gen taco. I'm set up as you said, with a topper but with an homemade ''shelf'' inside to put all my camping gear on top, plus the trailer and the ATV. No problem doing a 12 hours drive of logging roads and hilly country going back home. I've been really surprised by the power of the little 3.5. My truck is stock, save for the LT tires (which I highly reccomend). Do not forget to inflate properly (I put 40psi in the back).

Any elk you aren't able to get home I'd be glad to pay shipping to southeast TX.
