I was happy with the extra u-bolts. I could just get better u-bolts and paint them so they don't rust since it did work for a maybe 5 weeks.

Only reason I'm thinking helper spring is good u-bolts are about $20. for $30 more I can have a little more load carrying if I need, with only about 20 minutes of work on both sides. Plus it's cheaper than add a leaf.

I'll let people know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply's. The first thing I did when I bought the truck was, join this forum, 2nd thing was check the U-bolts and grease the U-joints. I hate these big , new service departments with rows of managers and shiny floors. Everyone is so friging polite. Let me talk to a greasy-ass mechanic with a couple of teeth missing. I think they just wash your truck and put the paper mats in and your good to go.

So you got rid of of one noise problem but the other one still persists?

Yup - I stress this. Mine did it after I lifted it. I didn't know the u-bolts needed a retorque. Sounds like what I had.

Did you check if you had a beer can in the box?
