    Well, since no one replied (lol)... wife and I ended up finding a bunch at Powder House.

    They had a ton when we stopped by Friday night.

    (A little late :)
    We bought a rubber floaty last summer. It appears it works well on snow, too.

    Yes they do!

    When I was younger we would use a cheap plastic kid pool on the slopes. ;)

    Hey everyone, I'll be in bend this whole week starting tomorrow and had a couple questions....

    First off, I've driven in snow like twice and while not trying to sound like a pansy, I'm a little uneasy. I'm driving from Redmond (airport) into bend and need some tips as far as things to do in the weather you guys are about to have up there..

    The car is a rental with front wheel drive, I'm assuming I'll need chains when not on a major high way, unless that's not the case..

    Anyways I'm looking for places up there to move in the next coming month, so if any of you have any hook ups that would be awesome haha.

    1: drive it like you stole it;
    2: what snow? That was last month. Be prepared for rain. No chains required;
    3: loads off places to buy yet, it's a sellers market. Prices are high, even on rentals.

    Oh, loads of things to do.
    Drink, eat, music, outdoor stuff. Name your poison.

    This will be my second time up there, just going off what my super phone that's mostly wrong is telling me.

    Compared to where I live housing is much more affordable, but landing a job up there is my next big problem.

    Tell me about it...... I'm stuck barely meeting bills. Been trying to get a real job around here for 3+ years. Gotta be part of the "good ole boy network" in some/many cases. I don't play the game, too open and honest.
    What's your field?

    I've been in TV set construction for 5 years now, doing everything from carpentry, welding, metal fab, LED lighting, vinyl sticker making, flat bed printing, photoshop, illustrator blah blah blah. Hoping I can land in one of those kinds of fields.

    Craig's list?:notsure:
    Do you have your resume posted (like indeed.com ?) There are some job finding agencies in town......I'm sure.
    BASX in Redmond seems to be hiring frequently. You'll pass it when you leave the airport. They make hvac systems (I think).

    If I were you I would look for a place to live in Redmond really close to Bend but not nearly as much traffic

    If you can wheel like in your pic you won't have too much of a problem driving in snow
    But I highly doubt we will get snow.

    Yeah we aren't 100% set on Bend, but definitely in that area.

    On the note of wheeling, is cline butte the only real rock crawling area in that close of a vicinity?

    Yes and no. There's supposed to be a new place east of town opening. Clone has a few areas. There are another few areas out in the woods I've heard of but you have to know people. BLM land.

    Best thing to do if you've never driven in snow before is wait till it snows a bit (or even better snows, melts, and freezes), drive out to a big open area (church parking lots are good) and to quote willie64 "drive it like you stole it".

    Make cookies, and drive around super recklessly, in a controlled manner. See what happens when you hit the brakes at certain speeds. And get a feel for how the vehicle and YOU react in those conditions.
