    enough to have fun
So for those who mountain bike and wheel their rig, what do you do for your spare that is a 33"?

A swing out will prevent bikes over the tailgate, but save bed space. Putting a 33" in the bed will take a bunch of bed space. Also for my case I have a softtopper on as well

Alright, guys...I used to mountain bike quite a bit in high school. I'd typically do right around 2500 miles/year. At the time, I bought a Giant Boulder. It was very inexpensive (think I paid $350) and did serve me well. Main downfalls were the steel frame which makes the thing excessively heavy and no disc brakes. I also stripped the gears on the rear cassette and had to replace that at one point.

It's right around 10 years old now and some of it's getting tired (tires are starting to dry rot, for instance). I'm thinking about replacing it with something one step up rather than putting money into it. I don't know if I'll ever get into it as much as I was, so I don't want to spend a ton of money. Want to try to keep it somewhere around ~$500. Basically, I'd like an aluminum frame and disc brakes this time. Other than that, my old Giant didn't have any significant shortcomings that bothered me.

Was looking online quick and saw the Talon 3 or the ATX Lite from Giant. Also saw the Specialized Hardrock disc, though that has Shimano Tourney derailleurs. I know none of what I'm looking at is awfully high-end, but from years ago I seem to remember the Tourney stuff was bottom of the barrel (I think that's what my Boulder has) and the stuff on these Giants is slightly better. I know for sure we have Giant and Specialized dealers here, not sure about others so didn't dig deeper.

    Any input?

You may want to check these guys out they aren't close you, but they are a specialized and giant retailer that usually has good deals on last years parts. I've preserved from them online as well as in person and know a few others that have used them online and everyone has had a good experience

Just got my Giant AnthemX 29er Fox fork back from being rebuilt/upgraded by Push Industries. They shoved in the Fit4 cartridge, new seals and such and tuned it for my weight + gear. Feels amazing. Can't believe the difference....well, it was a $400 difference so I'm glad there is a huge difference. Got the bike back together and all dialed in ready for the good stuff. Can't wait to try it out on some worthy trails. In/out before the pre-spring race reason rebuild crush at Push too.

I use the trail forks app. You can download trails from different areas you ride in.

Where are you in Georgia? The F.A.T.S. trails (fork area trail system) is outside Augusta in South Carolina. They're pretty good and well maintained.
