20170119_174342522_iOS.jpg Some scrap plywood and rail hardware. Probably going to need add some eye screws and Velcro straps to hold the rods in place for beach driving.

now this I like...I need to make something like this for our stuff. Im thinking on making something like this for my tacoma without a topper. Maybe just hang 4 max rods on it, couple of the new rods I just bought are about 6 foot long but they are one piece not 2 piece rods. So they might hang over the bed a little but it would be better than just rolling around in the bed. I had to sand some nicks on a couple reels from setting them down on the bed or it might have been from the rocks we were fishing off of this summer. Either way its better to have them neatly stacked than thrown in the back of the bed.

Great cheap setup. Exactly what I'm looking for. Simple, removable and not bulky.

How'd you get the carriage bolts to mount inside the rack system? Did you slide them in from the end?

Is this also applicable for side rails?

Did you also used 1/2 carriage bolt? Did you drill the Berkley rod holder holes?

Yes, however you may have to secure them with a bungee or strap because they'll be much more susceptible to falling out at highway speeds

I made some out of a poly cutting board from Walmart...

I mean Starboard. It's totally Starboard guys. Very professional.

After that, it was just carriage bolts which I cut down and beveled to size to fit the rails. I'm using gear ties to keep the rods seated in the holders.
