I see these test rigs pretty often during my morning commute.

This one appears to be the next Nissan Frontier fitted with a Diesel engine and manual transmission.

You never know, something like this could force Toyota to play its hand.

I have to admit, I like the styling changes compared to the current Frontier. But they still seem behind compared to the 3rd gen Tacoma.

There is a lot of electrical tape holding that truck together... I don't if it is a new prototype or a south american imported pile of junk..:burnrubber::bananadead:

They have been avidly against it. But now with Nissan joining GM in the midsize diesel market, who knows. I can tell you this, if Toyota starts losing sales in the US to these midsize diesels then you can bet your ass they will jump in.

Most likely....given California plates of the car. It's most likely a truck from Mexico. See it all the time with Mexican Hilux's.....they are always over here.

Plus...test vehicles usually have some type of funky "wrap" on them and wheels are usually covered. too.

+ normally prototype vehicles or even mule test vehicles don't advertise their engine type...

All the test mules I seen are always taped up or covered up. Usually to hide details or secure wiring for sensors.

That's all I could capture of this Nissan, but I do have other vehicles I'll have to look up.

I do remember seeing these Ford Transits when they were originally Badged as Fiat's
