This is actually a fairly common swap. Most out there cut about 1.5-2'' off it to get it to sit better.

I have two of them waiting to go on mine.

A little rewiring and some amber lenses and you'd have the baddest turn signals on the planet.

Anything to keep you from trimming an inch or two off the rails to take the gap out?

For reference, my Yakima tracks are 42".

I haven't seen many around San Diego, and I didn't think to cut it before the install. I'm pretty happy with the results, given the more expensive options out there. Maybe scoring the rack for $75 is unique...;)?

I did pull it and paint the rails matte black, at it was pretty faded from the UV exposure.

    Right now...laziness.

Easily unplugs if I need to tow, tied to reverse lights but also on switch so I do not blind people in parking lots

He'll prolly get close to that. Doesn't mean I'd pay that. BUT, if that build is what you're looking for, and it's a good quality build too, then you'll save tons by buying it already built. I've heard general rule of thumb on modded rigs, market withholding, truck's book value, then half the price of add-ons and labor. So I'll lose my @$$ when it comes time to sell, but that's the way it goes.

Edit: what's cool is I've fit 35's up to the current 40's with no modding to the wheel wells. The 80s have surprisingly large wheel wells.

How do you wire something like this? Wanting to the same thing with some reverse lights, have them on with reverse lights but also on a switch to turn it on and off when wanting to

If I start from scratch on a solid axle family rig, this would be the route I'd go.

I did that, reverse and switched. I ran the switch to a relay and the I tapped into the back up switch ran the switch and back up switch into a diode and then to the relay. I think there is a better write up in my build thread.

On my 04 Tacoma there are rubber covering holes on the back side of the inner rocker

On my 02 I took them off and I think I used a step bit to open them up so I could put plugs in them to keep salt and crap out. Filled with rust check first. IMG_2990.jpgIMG_2986.jpg
