I am sure you have all gone through this, bought a parts truck and came to the conclusion that it is to good to scrap ....

2004 tacoma TRD SR5 4x4 that has frame issues, and its not covered under the frame recall !

So moving on, no scrap yards have a frame where i live this is beyond repair :(

Has anyone come up with a solution ?

    4 runner frame
    Tundra Frame ?
    Aftermarket frame ?

    Just looking for ideas

    Hi Jon,

Sorry to hear about your frame issues. The frames are probably the most discussed topic on the forums here. I'm sure you've read up on what trucks qualify for frame replacements and have been in contact with your local dealer / Toyota corporate, etc.

Given that, as you state, there is no new frame in your future, you have a few options:

Option #1: Cut your losses. Part out the truck.
Option #2: Continue to look for a rust-free, straight frame from another Tacoma. I used car-part.com and was able to pick one up. They also pop up on here every now and again, in the marketplace section. Make a post. Try craigslist, too. It is certainly a big project to do a frame swap on your own, but it is possible. I did it, largely by myself, learning the truck piece-by-piece, project-by-project.
Option #3: Patching. If your rust is limited to a few sections, such as the boxed section in front of the rear leaf springs, many users have worked with welders to weld in metal sections to strengthen a rotted region.

Many users will likely skip your post because frame rust is such an oft-discussed topic on the forums, but there are always enough helpful folks on here / past threads to help you through, whatever direction you choose to go. Good luck.

    Thanks for the reply !

This frame has been welded by the previous owner along the rails but if you zoom in you can see the damage behind the wheel above the sway bar IMG_2806.jpgIMG_2801.jpgIMG_2799.jpg

    All are the same....

Gosh if that pic you posted is the worst spot, honestly id just drive the bitch. Maybe its alot worse than it looks but it wouldnt bother mw till it was much worse. There's alot of guys on the road right now with much worse frame rot and dont have any reinforcement plates welded in, just the original thin ass steel. Not that they're in the right but it just dosent look like yours is completely doomed yet???

Good luck finding a good frame here. Better off finish repairing that one.

You can order parts from this company to weld the frame. They claim no truck is too far gone to fix.
