TRD Off-Road vs. TRD Pro - Comprehensive List of Upgrades

The question of what parts does the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro have over the 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road and whether or not it makes sense for the extra up front cost comes up a lot. Not to mention full paint if you go with Cement

 

Just leave it primer and no base coat. Matte primer "cement" works for me!

J/K, cement is my fave color choice of all the Taco options.

 

We got our taco a year and a half earlier than planned. We were going to order a Pro in Cement, but we ended up with a MGM OR instead.

 

I think the Tires are the same as what comes on the OR so those would just transfer onto the new wheels.

 

Does the pro have a locker? I know newb question. Also, why would you badge it?

Yup, identical tires that work decently.

The badge gives you exclusivity and PrOSEUR status.

I think 245s are on the SR and SR5 but the Off Road and Pro share the same size.

 

So the tires cost 724 more that the ones on the OR no way. and 975 per headlight more. you gotta be shitting me. I know they are smoked but 975 more, get real..

You're right. I just looked it up on Toyota's site. they looked a lot skinnier in person is why I assumed the size.

 

That was the pricing I found - can you get them for cheaper from a retailer (non-ebay)?

 

I think the number you're working to calculate is valuable but at the end of the day theres still a big kicker that wont be reflected in it.

TRD ORs can easily be had for near invoice.
TRD Pros almost always go for MSRP or more.

Thats a solid $2-4k difference.

That should definitely be factored in. This was just to list the parts differences.

 

If you are converting your OR to the PRO, then I guess this is accurate. If you are deciding between purchasing an OR vs a Pro, then this is a bit misleading. The OR comes with headlights, taillights, a grille, a shift knob, wheels, tires, shocks, etc. To make this comparison applicable to someone deciding to purchase one versus the other, you need to list the price differences between the OR and Pro components.

 

Assuming you can sell your parts for what they are worth from toyota.

 

I think most people are looking at either buying a TRD OR and then adding Pro parts, or buying a Pro up front. This would still give you an idea of what that would cost. Not sure why someone would want to compare prices of parts.
