TRD cat back exhaust

You wont gain any mpg's or HP off of a catback system. Nothing noticeable anyway

 

This is exactly what happened to me. Loved the sound right after I installed the exhaust, but wasn't in love with the drone at low rpm's under load. After a month the drone is completely gone. I wish that the original "bark" was still there, but now that the drone is gone I have zero complaints.

 

I never had any drone, just a buzzing sound now gone. and as far as the original bark I am told that the sound will deepen when more time is put on the exhaust....could't be happier though, for once I got the exhaust right on the first try

 

I guess some people would say the buzzing was drone but it wasn't hard to explain

 

Installed the TRD CAI, and Cat back exhaust when I bought truck new in '06.
I also added a tonneau cover, for long deadhead trips. Truck now has 227,024 miles, and the biggest performance difference is the mid-range acceleration (45 to 80mph). Plus the sound is awesome. The only vehicle with better sound is the LFA. I have had zero problems with either system.
I use my truck for pilot car/escort for oversize loads. Large equipment, wind mill stuff, and oil field stuff. Many goat trails and rough terrain, with no clearance problems. My CAI is the first edition, and like the CAI, no problems.

Good addition to the truck, and when I add another Tacoma to my little company, it will be equipped also.

 

im also looking at TRD catback and TRD cai. i want more Brapp. im sure the sound will always remain there

 

I am thinking about getting the TRD Exhaust, but I was wondering how easy it is to install? Or would I have to pay to get it installed in a shop? I am not too mechanically inclined, but I an handle a little bit.

 

Really easy, just a couple of bolts and rubber hangers.

 

It's best for you to drop the spare tire so you'll have more room to angle the exhaust out so you don't have to cut the exhaust. Spray the hangers with wd40 so they can slip off easier. Everything else is pretty much basic.

 

Where is the cheapest to get this trd catback exhaust? I got the mbrp on it now and damn is it loud in the cabin! Looking at other options!!!

 

Why not just change the muffler and save a few hundred dollars on tubing?

 

That's actually my thought as well. Any suggestion on muffler?

 

Thats very subjective.
Go to a shop, tell them what ur looking for... ask them to clamp on 3 or 4 mufflers to current tubing 1 at a time WITHOUT telling the brand... let u start truck and throw a small rev. Buy what u like the sound of and when its said and done, ask the brand.

 

one thing I thought was noticeable was. when hammering down to pass on steep hills. with the TRD exhaust i didn't feel a lag in the acceleration that I felt with stock.

so I suppose you could call it a little more throttle response. as far as mpg's nothing.
