I just got my new pickup and installed the Old Man Emu BP-51 coilover system. After a couple times off-road, and some research, I decided I want to go with a larger tire. Long story short, I'm wondering if my current coilover setup would work with an all pro or total chaos LT kit. It's non ride height adjustable but yielded me about 2.5-3" lift. Any help is appreciated

Here is a basic breakdown of what you might want to consider. LT kits will require LT coilovers, I don't think OME makes Coils that will work with a kit, but I could be wrong. If you are interested in going LT, you might want to consider what you might do with the rear. I have a half-ass LT rear set up as Im on the east and don't need all the travel at the moment with a TC midtravel SUA (don't worry Im sure I will LT at some point and kick myself in the ass). Keep in mind, a legit LT rear will require some fab work at a minimum. DMZ, Giant motor sports, DTF, and solo motor sports are the more common players here...expect about $8k if not some more for a shop to install with parts.

Everyone has their opinion, but I have seen more All-pro complaints than compliments about their kit in the long run lately (could just be me though). I have the TC 3.5 kit up front and it is a pretty clean kit and a straight forward install. You can expect to get anywhere from 1-3.5 inches in adjustable ride height over stock. I have King coils on mine and they came stock set up for 3 inches on the box. I cranked mine down to stay more around the 2.25 inch height. If you want to entertain the idea of going more racer style, LSK, DTF, and solo motorsports makes some big boy kits.

At the end of the day if you do LT right, expect about 15-18k up front to kit up your entire truck with a shop doing the fab work. What obviously is annoying about LT is you have to go all in in order to achieve the front and/or the rear.

My recommendation, explore some of these companies for a rear and see if having shocks and hoops through your bed is something you might be interested in. If so, look to do the REAR FIRST. It will likely be more costly, require more skills/man-power to achieve and install as the rear is what really determines the capability of the truck. If I had to do it over, I would of said fuck it and got a DMZ rear SUA out of the gate instead of my mid travel, but it works for now.

Hope that gives you some perspective .

So would it be pointless to LT the front and mid travel the back? excuse my ignorance! But I've been looking everywhere and cant seem to find this info, maybe I just overlooked it.

It depends really on what you want to do. For instance, I am on the east coast and there are a few guys here who have a total chaos 2+ front end and dakars/deavers in the rear and retain their SOA. I think the owner of Pelfrey even has this set up. This is a great option for over land and stuff. If you want to go fast and let the rear cycle through suspension more, then it is better to get long travel. Keep in mind the 2+ kits get you about 11 inches of travel and the 3.5 and wider get 13 or more inches depending on who you go with. I guess with more input I could give you more of a concrete answer.

With that being said, I am technically what you describe, LT front with a mid rear.

Going LT just because you want bigger tires is not a smart way to go about it.

I ended up calling total chaos (which is the kit I'd go with) and they said fox and other companies make specific coilovers to go with their kit. The bp51 coilovers aren't long enough. Money isn't an issue. I just bought this truck, prepared to spend whatever it costs to set it up the way I want it. I think going LT is a much better way to go opposed to cutting the absolute shit out of my fenders to fit 34-35" on a standard 3" lift. It's not going to be my daily driver. Anyways, appreciate the info. There is so much to learn still.

You still have to cut the absolute shit out of your fenders with LT.

OR...you could just get fiberglass fenders? That's what most LT guys have if they have anything bigger than a 2+ kit...if not, then be ready to cut ALOT of your fenders. Remember, LT has a longer stroke than OEM so the tire can stuff up more. Stock fenders are not designed for this.

Since money is not an issue, I will be eager to see what route you go in.

Thank you, yeah I want it for an overland build. I am just not ready to go full LT yet so I wanted to start with the front and eventually later down the road do the back end. I am from California so I occasionally take it down to Pismo and hit the dunes.

No problem man...since you are in the scene, it may be worth calling up TC and see what their perspective might be for what you want to do. They are pretty good about giving you the honest approach of what you might want to think about before you get there. Its always exciting to hear about another member considering LT!

I actually had my eyes on the Baja kits + 2 kit but I'll give TC a call as well! Again thanks for the honest help, reading on all of these threads is making me want LT even more.

Awesome man, that's how it should be. The more you understand LT and the finesse it might require in upkeep, will either turn you more on or off. I hear Baja kits has a nice set up, if I had done more research I might of went with them! Giving as many a call as you can to ask their perspective can only help. LT is not very cost friendly to go back from after you got it!

Here is what you can expect stock fenders to look on a 3.5 kit. I'm running 37x13 on a 3.5bs wheel.
