Would really like to hear from folks that do this kind of wheeling and have experience with the lifts I reference below. Or to suggest a different route.

My offloading will be mostly technical trails and rock crawling. I don't need high speed pre-runner. I want the most articulation I can get front and back but not willing to go LT in the front because of track width. Below are some options I'm looking at. This was based on many different threads I have read. I have not ruled out ALL-Pro in the back.

The Truck has or will have:
SSO Slimline front steel bumper with X2O 12K winch (160lbs).
MOBTown Front, mid and transfer case steel skids (180lbs)
    All-Pro Apex sliders (150lbs),
    C4 Fab overland bumper (???lbls.)
Tires are planned to be 34X10.5X17KO2s or 255x75X17

    Front:
    SPC Light Racing UCA
    King 2.5 extended travel

Rear is what I really need help with and these are the options Im looking at:

    Option 1
    SUA perch kit (weld on)(Archive):
    Deaver U539/540 (Archive):
14" Fox 2.5 res and adj (DSMS):
    Shock relocate (weld on)(Archive):
    What bump stop? Timbren?

    Option 2
DeaverU402, Dakar or ALL-Pro full Leaf pack (Archive): Can I remove the last two leafs to reduce lift and improve unloaded ride
14" Fox 2.5 res and adj (DSMS):
    Shackle flip(Archive):
    Shock relocate (weld on)(Archive):
    What bump stop? Timbren?

    Concerns:
Loss of clearance with SUA, but most total travel?
Less travel and to high if stay SOA?
These should give me close to 13" of travel?

    Thoughts?

Sua i dont think is good for flex as it basically takes all the up travel and turns to droop travel. I order to get the benefit from that it needs to be floating in the middle getting bucked allover at speed, with perfect shock valving.

You want a lift so you have both up and down travel for the low speed trails. I love my expo pack personally, not rough at all but to be honest i think the dakars droop flex more from the pics i have seen, small difference really. I cant explain why as the mounting point and dimensions are the same, probably spring rate or the arch of the spring.

With just ext travel coilovers and arms on the front all pro/dakar springs and a properly measured 2.0-2.5 adjustable shock will be perfect to crawl around on and you have some ability to tune for different terrain types.

My understanding of this is actually the opposite. You will gain up travel by going SUA. The spring pack is no longer in-between the axle and the frame. You can run more arch with less total lift. The above setup could give around 13" travel is what @ARCHIVE believes. I am new to considering doing a SUA but I believe you can actual get more total travel without putting the ass of the truck so far in the air. Again I am knew to this so could be wrong. But I think the benefits are less axle rap, more up travel and more total travel without going too high or increasing spring length. Down side is the spring can now get hung up on things.

Bob, just to clarify some things.

    1. Stock 2nd/3rd Tacomas come from Toyota with a paltry 2.5" up travel out back, that is terrible.
    2. With new thicker spring over expo packs, that pack thickness about doubles stock pack, which steals bump travel. Yeah you get lift, but 3" lift might only mean 1.5" increase in bump travel due to extra pack thickness.
    3. Spring Under axle takes the spring pack and moves it under the axle, meaning that thick pack is below axle, and that means the axle can now go that much higher. SUA can double the up travel.
    4. SUA can therefore balance out the big difference between bump and droop travel that comes with a SOA Tacoma setup.
    5. Springs under axle will not go into negative arch, even though allowing up to 3" more uptravel
