SO i think its time for a nice amp and good quality wiring for my Kenwood double din touch screen yadda yadda. however, i know NOTHING about amps. What is everyone running? I'd like to power all my speakers from it, do not care about subwoofer, and just basically have a crisper sound overall.

    Any advice?

    heres my head unit:

Edit: I should say i'm an axcess cab prerunner pre-2009 model if it helps..

The only good spot to fit an amp in the access cab is under the seat. When you are looking, make sure it will fit under there, there's not a lot of room. I've got an Alpine f-450 under the drivers seat. 70 watts X 4, meaning you can use it for 4 speakers. Here's a pic.

That looks great.. i was thinking there or somehow fitting it in the cubby under the back seat.. like, taking one of those out.. but i think under the seat would be better i'd guess.

speakers were upgraded by the previous owner to 3 ways. really nice ones.. so i'm set there

What you want to do is find out which type they are and get the info on them, most importantly the RMS recommended power rating and at what resistance or Ohm they need to be ran at. With this info you'll have a better idea of what type of amp you'll need.

For just the high's and mid's your are going to want a 4 channel amplifier and most likely your speakers are below 75w RMS so something around 50 would prob be decent (have to find what your speakers need first!!)

I could look at them and find out their ratings. Mostly looking for crisper sound, not really for loudness (no one else needs to hear my music!) but i'll start there as well. I jsut didnt really know what a 4 vs 2 channel amp meant and so on.. its all Greek to me

Simply means 4 power connections (+,-) 2 power connections, etc.

You can connect 4 speakers to a mono block if you want but for resistance and wiring sake it is easier to have a channel for every speaker.

With subs it's a different story

You need to find out what was installed just so you don't take the risk of blowing your speakers.

Yep. If you have 4 separates, then yes you need a 4-channel. Check out Arc Audio's KS Mini 125.4. It would be a good choice.

Also, JL Audio is supposed to release some new amps next month below the HD line that look promising and have a smaller footprint than even the HD line.

That Alpine MFP-F30 is a real nice amp, and a few bucks cheaper too. I had that model in my other truck, never had any problems with it and it sounded great.

ah good to hear! ive been thinking of picking it up since this afternoon....

Anyone have any more advice about how they installed their amp? Sure - under the seat and all.. but running wires? Im sure its pretty logical (under carpet, along sills.. so on)

When choosing an amp, its ideal to match the RMS power of the amp to the speakers at a particular resistance (ohm)
