1995.5-1997 Tacoma reg cab with deaver springs, reviews

After 540,000 miles I'm Looking at getting new rear springs, not a 3" lift, maybe a 1" lift, just need a softer ride as my springs are tired and the old springs beat me up over every bump with the add a leaf set I have, deaver only makes custom springs for the early Tacoma,No production stuff, So anyone running deaver springs With a 1" lift for reviews compared to stock, should I have a 9 pack or 6 pack or how many leaves should I look at having built for my truck? I haul 500 pounds or so off and on over a months time, and pull a double axle enclosed trailer once or twice a year for 50 miles or so,
Really want a softer ride for all the miles I put on.

Wheelers Offroad sells a leaf pack that gives you about 1.5" of lift, most of the other packs I see around offer 2"-3" lift.

 

My truck is 1997, they are a different size

 

ah crap, I saw it was for earlier model 1st gens but didn't realize the cut it off at '98. Lame.

Anyone running these with reviews

 

I've been eyeing them myself, so I'd be curious to know as well. Actually I'd probably go with their 6+ leaf packs as I would need about 2.5" of lift on mine. These packs are 5 leafs and give 1.5" lift, I think any 6 leaf pack is going to give you at least 2"....9 would probably be well over 3" on a reg cab taco.

With the rear 1.5 inch lift you recommended above, what would be the equivalent front so it keeps factory rake ?

Asking for my 01 Doubke cab as I am thinking of tackling suspension refresh

 

I assume it means 1.5" over stock which would possibly be more than that for worn out springs. I'd call Wheelers and see what they say - their customer service is good.

 

Probably OME 880s with 5100s set at 0, the 880s only give an inch of height for a v6 double cab. Hell I barely got over an inch lift with the 881s. That would keep about .5" or so of rake with that leaf pack I'd guess.

I've run a set of Deavers on my '97 for 10 years and they have been awesome. Scott at Deaver will make the leaf pack to fit your exact needs so it's a win win for sure. Mine are 10 leaf progressive and not only ride great they'll handle some weight. Deaver is the way to go in my opinion!

 

Is it pricey for custom ?

 

I'm not running those currently but I ran a set of them on a '99 that I had about 6 years ago. They were OK. Handled weight pretty decent, but rode kind of rough when unloaded. That was using 5100's with them in the rear. My current truck has Deaver 8 Leafs and they ride much nicer, but probably won't hold up to regular weight.

Like a couple others suggested, you should look into a custom leaf pack from Deaver. It may cost a few hundred more than that pack that Wheelers offers, but it will give you more what you are look for. Especially with the amount of miles you put on your truck, I would say that's the way to go. Just my $.02

 

It's been a while so you may want to call them. I think I paid $400 back then, just a little more than a 'standard' replacement from anyone else.

 

Talked to Them today, they said 700 plus 80.00 shipping, for a 8 pack medium duty, seems like a lot, will be almost 800.00

did you ever get them? I have a 97 reg cab 4x4 aswell, currently have an order with wheeelers for the dakars. If so how many leafs and lift? How much? Im sure its more now. Thx!
