Sad that this has to be my first thread, but I could really use some help. A couch that I had in the bed of my Tacoma slid into the rear window and broke the middle and the left side window.

    Anyone have any advice???
Is this something that can be done on my own?
If I can't fix it, how much would this generally cost?

I live in San Diego if anyone has anyone they can refer me to!

    Thanks guys!

Check your insurance policy. Glass is often covered at 100%.

Broke the rear glass in my old dodge pickup in similar fashion. Lesson learned, secure anything you put in the bed regardless of distance traveled. In my case I was transporting a table from the backyard to front yard!

Could always invert a bed divider to protect the window:

Actually broken out of the window frame or cracked glass?

If just a small crack maybe Safelite or something?

    Good Luck.

Unfortunately, the whole rear glass has to be replaced and here in AZ it ranged from $420-$600 bucks. Luckily my insurance covered it in my case. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses guys. We called our insurance and they said we have to pay $500.00 and then they would cover the rest. Everyone I have talked to is saying that it will cost $1,000 plus for an entire OEM window replacement. I called a local Toyota Dealership and they referred me to a company that uses Pilkington; I guess they make close to OEM products that fit just like OEM and it's half the price. Has anyone heard of that company?
I'm just torn on what my next move is at this point. I've heard that you HAVE to use OEM for it to fit properly, but it's just so damn expensive.:bananadead:IMG_5312.jpg

There's a lot of cheap shit, and there's quality aftermarket. I'd focus more on a quality shop (they'll sell quality glass and install it with equal reliability) and get an estimate or two. Then see what the whole picture looks like, then decide if you want to go with OEM or not.

Hey Madison, sorry I'm not sure where to point ya for this. Saw Shane post about it last night. Best of luck getting it fixed!
Hopefully someone will chime in about the aftermarket glass vs OEM.

Not covered by my insurance in CA, so maybe it varies by state, or provider anyway.
