Looking to buy a drone but with so many out there I'm unsure of what to get or where to begin. Some advice/pointers would be greatly appreciated. I would like for it to be go pro compatible and a pretty good quality.

Would like to keep it budget friendly too, maybe $400-$500.

I have my sight set on an DJI Phantom 3. They were $399 over the holidays, but prices have gone up to $499 recently. Want to start using it for aerial photos/videos.

Are you just looking to fly it, or do you want photo/video capability?

Can't go wrong with dji. I have the phantom 2 flies easily. The 3 has the integrated cam with the 2 I use a go pro.

I really like the go pro drone but with it being recalled and wanting to get one before the trip to Utah I've been looking at the DJI mavic pro.

Yea the mavic is light years more advanced then the phantoms. I thought you had a budget lol. I personally thought they get boring rather quickly. My phantom sits in a closet.

I thought I did to until I really started looking at them, plus I really like the video quality on the mavic and the size, the ability to fold it up fairly small it awesome.

I have a Phantom 4 and really love it. I caught it on sale and couldn't pass it up. I had a Phantom 3 Standard before it and it was a good drone. I flew a Mavic Pro and really liked it. It is basically the same as the P4 but in a WAY smaller package. The camera takes a bit of getting used to with tap to focus but after a few minutes with it the Mavic is impressive.

Autel makes great drones and the X-Star Premium is one of the better drones I have ever seen for the money. The X-Star Premium is on par with the Phantom 3 Professional and for a better price tag to boot.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
If you want to use your gopro, there's no better value than the 3DR solo right now ($300 or so at best buy last I saw)... use your GP3 or GP4 with it. 3DR stopped selling to consumers so the drone itself is being supported by the user community (parts, modifications, software, etc.)...
