What are people doing for area lighting for truck based camping? I'm interested in more than just enough light to get RTT and camp set up, but solid area lighting for dark winter nights. Would love to see your lighting and power setup! Idk if I can do another winter trip with just a headlight and lantern...

(*was surprised that I could not find a thread on this so if someone knows of a good one a link would be much appreciated)

I have kc cyclone lights on my bed rack. One each direction. Perfect amount of light for camp setup. And even hanging out at camp.

Yep our Cyclone lights would work perfectly for camp lighting, in/under and RTT, etc. The clear white ones would probably be the best for you as it will have the most usable light. They are small 2" diameter lights that put out 516 lumens in a flood pattern and only cost about $30.

As you can see below, these are most often used for rock lighting, bed lights, or under the hood lights. But people are starting to use em for a bunch of different applications such as camp lighting, dome lights on buggies, etc.

Went camping in the Ozarks a couple months back, and my cousin had a https://luminaid.com/products/luminaid-packlite-16, it lit up the entire camp area, but the best part was, it DIDN'T attract bugs. When the batteries in it died, I got a standard led light, hundreds of bugs swarming immediately with it, had to move it quick from over the stove cooking diner. I now plan on getting several in a kit they sell, 2 large and 2 small. https://luminaid.com/collections/solar-lights/products/shark-tank-bundle

It was amazing there were NO bugs attracted to this light.

That's custom made. Looks like a paint pole extension with a generic LED pod on top. The benefit to the extension is that during the summer months, insects are drawn to the light so a headlamp would have mosquitos flying all around your face. This can be especially annoying while cooking. The pole puts them well above your area and out of the way, plus spreads the light over a greater area.

I use luci lights. They're solar powered and literally last 10 to 12 camping trips on a single charge
