On my 07 FJ I had 886's my Tacoma has a leaking strut now and I'm going to fix it with an OME. I have an All-Pro steel bumper a supercharger and a winch on the way. I really liked the way the 886's road in the FJ, should I go with the same or look at the 887's or 888'S or stick with the 886's because of the higher spring rate and extra weight I have in the front?

~110lbs up front (US OFFROAD bumper w/ winch), sliders, looking for around 2" front lift. Don't want to mess with UCA's as I don't wheel this thing hard, just need some more ground clearance. Would the 885 or 887 be a better option (or some other spring...)

 

I got about 2 1/4 - 2 3/8 from 885s on my V6 4x4 DCSB.

Alright folks, I've got my full OME kit almost done. However, while installing the rear shocks the bottom part of the shock won't fit in the bracket. I've tried bending the bracket a bit. Thoughts?

 

Hammer the bracket open a little more. Apply grease to the bracket and bushing on shock. Start tapping the bottom of the shock into bracket with hammer. You're gonna have to hit it a little harder than you'll feel comfortable with. You'll get it about 90% in then it will stop. Use a screwdriver or something similar through the bracket hole into the shock hole and pry it in a little more. You should be able to get the bolt through.
If you can only get it in one side and not out the other, just start tightening it like there is a nut on the other side and it will work its way through.

Source: I've done a few of these. It's kind of a pain in the ass and it's not a delicate procedure.

Edit: After you get the shock mostly in, hammer the bracket back into its original shape or you won't be able to get the bolt through the hole.

 

Mine were pretty snug too. A little extra "coaxing," similar to what @BenTheMan described, is all they needed.

 

what size tires ? Your tuck looks perfect- ride height and wheel set up go perfect together.

Anyone know where to get a new center pin for Dakars? I'm adding the

$81 D29XL Leaf Spring

D29XL leaf and I cut the center pin down when I first installed the leaf pack.
