Good morning all. Still a lot of snow on the ground here it doesn't want to die. Was 50 yesterday and didn't see much change which surprised me. Didn't really want to pick up dog shit in the yard today anyhow.

Really need to trim some oak branches and this is the time of year supposed to do it so they don't develop blight. I have 2 10 feet long pieces of conduit joined with a coupling and pruning saw lashed to the end of it. Heavy slow and awkward SOB to cut through anything. Pole saws are not cheap but might go shopping later. And look at mobile stands for my table saw, chop saw, router tables and for the hell of it workbenches. More coffee and think this through LOL.

Polesaws are wieldy enough, but a decent one has some weight to it to help get it through a cut. I've done the saw duct taped to the pipe thing, it's miserable.

If the breaker went it would be bad.

Yeah that is pretty much it. It will help with the fire aspect, but the percussion could take you out.

Since nothing has been running in there, that room is freezing. We don't have to wear them long at a time. Just doing breakers or verifying no voltage before work is done. We don't work on anything hot.

But this is why I don't like messing with this stuff....

Morning all, nice nights sleep about to have coffee
Lower part of the trail is owned by BLM upper part and the city are owned by National Park. This cabin is up Sourdough canyon and was built in 1970 by a group of...well...hippies.

There are still several cabins left and all but 2 have a bad mouse problem. We keep this one sealed and there is one mouse that finds his way in every so often. We spray the cabin down with bleach, clean every surface and the brick floor and spray again.

Hoe are you fairing with the weather Andy? Have you heard anything about the Bakersfield area?

Thanks I'll still be calling this lady later today just to check. She's (daughter) a reasonably smart young woman, trained as a firefighter, and well educated hopefully she still has some common sense if a sketchy situation presents itself

I bought the Stihl combination unit and the pole saw and extension first.
I love it. I still have manual pruner saw but I even use the Stihl to reach in and cut cedars down. I have the tiller option unit for it also. Next is to get the trimmer head so I can reduce the amount of engines around here.

Thanks Marty the other night I actually stumbled across those and been looking at them. You can still get the miter saw table and a few other things at a couple of places but a lot of the accessories seem to have been discontinued. I do a lot of work with sheet goods and looking at the sheetmaster too. There a lot of options out there but either one of those will likely end up in my garage. Or 2 of them. Can never have enough vises IMO!

I'm doing that on my work truck. I have a Honda EU3000 generator so I swapped from a gas air compressor to an electric compressor mounted next to it. The Honda has a pretty good sized gas tank and runs a long time on a tank.

    20170208_080230.jpg

And that small compressor still puts out 225 psi and has a 4 gallon tank, so it'll handle most of what I need to do.

I've always wanted to get 2 EU3000 and the link kit for camping. Been looking at them for years but never pulled the trigger due to price. But they are worth every penny when you need them, jealous!
