Check out a race night and see what everyone else is running. If you show up with some oddball brand from the everything else you may not get much help tuning and setting up.

Ok battery experts. Here is a battery I use in my scx10 and a battery I use in my 1/18 scale stuff. The big one is a onyx 2s 4000 mah 25c. The small one is a max amps 2s 2000mah 100c. Doing the math the big one has max 100amp continuous draw and the small one has a 200amp continuous draw. The equation for that is how many amp the battery is times the c rating. I called max amps to see if I could run that small battery alone in my scx10 and they said it would damage the battery? Other than the lower run time I would think it would be safer running that than the big battery, with a lower continuous draw rating? He said I could run two of them in parallel which would bump me up to 4000 mah. But not one alone. I think he's just trying to get me to buy a new battery?

It'll work just fine, just a much shorter run time.

The C ratings confuse me a little. I would run it though. On my old scx10 I ran a pair of 2200mAh packs. One on each side of the tranny attached to the frame rail like saddle packs. One at a time or both together. But you need to balance charge them and run them together from the first few minutes or not at all until they've both been balanced again.

Thats what I thought I get about 2 hours depending how I drive on 4000 mah. So I figure around 45 to an hr on the small one. Just still confused why the guy at max amps thinks it will hurt the battery. Seeing how it's a high end high draw battery. I can drain it in my brushless mini lst in 15 minutes there's no way to do that with a crawler

This looks amazing! Nice looking setup!

I'm relatively "new" (getting back into it) to the RC scene. All I knew was the Traxxas platform. Is that still one of the better companies to go with or are they just mainly an expensive name now?

    Thanks!

BTW, Traxxas is supposed to release a crawler this summer.

Right now I'm trying to use as much as I can as filler under the jumps and will most likely use some for part of the crawler course. I hear ya, I've been moving all that rock off and on in between other projects for like 2 years :ballchain:

2.5-3x most likely. It's loaded with more options and doodads than a 1:1 Denali.
