Rear power slider is reason enough to upgrade IMO.

My take is this: a $34k truck VS a $40k truck will be about a $100/125 a month difference (60 month finance). If that is breaking the bank, it's probably best to buy used and stay under 25k.
If one is going to be making payments anyway, put as much down as you like (stay under 2k), and most importantly, get the truck you want or you'll wonder why you didn't every time you see someone else driving the truck you truly wanted.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time.

What did the world do before "Multi terrain select"?!?!?!?!

Fluff.... doesn't mean it isn't nice to have. Doesn't it doesn't add function. I'm not even saying don't get it. What makes the OR package attractive is the locker and suspension. In hindsight I'd probably go back and get an OR (If I could get it with out all the extras the GST would add).

Actually, mine didn't come with alloys.... it did have the entune with navigation through your phone (which ended up sucking).... At the time, I wouldn't have had any issue buying an SR with the appearance and convenience package..... I ended up buying the most stripped down V6, 4X4, DC with tow for a fair price..... If I would have found an OR with tow only, I probably would have went that route too.

I'm stilly pretty happy with the truck and won't likely change it.

If I were to do it again, it would be a base model DC TRD OR with a 6-Speed Manual, MSRP 34k. You'll have to order it, because I have never seen one on a lot.

Maybe you were looking at a Sport if it had no Locker.

Some people here are funny. In a modern truck, a nice head unit, back up cam, heated seats blah blah are expected. That is not fluff that is standard shit on a 15k Corolla even... If you bought this new gen truck to be an off road beast you are either naive or stupid. There are much much better ways to spend 40k on an offroad vehicle.

Most new trucks are on the road 99 percent of the time... those are the features you should worry about when buying new. You could have bought a wicked tricked out first gen with SAS and 35's, locked, doubled and ready to go for under 20k... or better yet an old jeep rubicon tj for 10k

The logic here of this 'offroad crowd' is funny. I have seen 2 or 3 guys on this forum actually wheel their 3rd gen hard... the rest is overlanding and camping which you could do in any SUV.

I had a power rear sliding window in my last vehicle. I used it all the time. It's just like rolling down another window. The inconvenience of the manual rear slider means that you'll rarely use it, but after you get used to having a power one, you'll wonder why Toyota took so long to make a factory power sliding rear window.

I had the option between a SR5 and Sport. I was fine with either. I'd use the features in the Sport, but wouldn't miss them if they weren't there. What made me go with the SR5 was the hood scoop on the Sport. I had my wife sit in both and that one inch on the scoop was the difference between me getting the SR5 or Sport. I have no regrets. Love the truck.

It is fluff. I did want the modern head unit. It is fluff I wanted. Seriously, fluff is just stuff that is nice to have but really isn't necessary or really important. It seems to me that people get offended by the word fluff. Why? I don't get it.

Look at Woodrow F Call's profile pic. Does that look like a man who needs "fluff"?

Power windows? Let the man roll up his own damn windows!

Hm. I agree, and I don't. I'm gonna wheel the fuck out of this sr, just not right now. It's a nice new truck, I'll run it 4 or 5 years, baby it. Take it to the mall. Road trip it and camp with it, And when it comes time to buy another vehicle, instead of what most people do, I'll keep it instead of trade it in, same with my other taco. THEN I'll go thrashing. Meantime I'll fab on it, build some sliders, put some nice coilovers on it. This IS the platform to build an off-road beast, IMO. Don't want a jeep, have a first gen, and after that new vehicle purchase "baby it mode" wears off, this most def is gonna be a nice platform to build on. But I really don't want leather on my steering wheel, personal preference, hate that shit. And heated/power seats, I'd rather not. Just not into it. Color matched everything, when it comes to this truck, is kinda not that impressive. Back up cam is legit though. The only thing I expected was for this truck was to take over my 1st gen as a daily, and do it well. Its exceeded that expectation, so I call it good.

I don't think there are many vehicles at all sold today with manual windows.
