...because I don't trust the judgment of the 3rd Genners ;).

What do you have to say about diesels? I'm considering getting one of the new F150 diesels in the future. Mostly because of gas mileage and longevity.

I am in love with my F250 but need to give up on it soon for family planning reasons (safety features).

My current truck has around $20k in mods I will never see out of the value. If it where a diesel I might see more of that value. So that's why I'm compelled to get one. Plus its a truck I can get 1,000,000 miles worth of use out of.

Another reason is use. I need a full-size in terms of space and utility. A diesel would allow me to get out of an F150 what I currently get out of an older Super Duty.

I am just wondering if all the maintinence of a diesel is worth it. What do you guys have to say?

I have nothing to say on it...but would you ditch the F250 and the Tacoma? Or just one of them? The F250 is a beast, my neighbor has one

Not sure yet. I want to keep the Taco, but might need to for-go. A new F-150 Diesel Lariat is likely to be around $60-65k. Not sure I can afford them both and need the big truck.

Plus, I promised my spouse an Audi A4 when I got married 7 years ago. So this is also part of my deal haha.

$60k for a 1/2 ton is fucking ridiculous. Diesel or not,it's still a 1/2ton. I don't get the whole diesel thing. All I see around here is diesels with way offset "bro" wheels with the huge stack in the bed. Fuckin stupid. So what do you get with a diesel in a 1/2ton? Better mpg? I just don't get it.

I have and maintain a small 4110 3cyl diesel Deere tractor. Its the first and only diesel Ive ever maintained. Gas is easy, fill and go. Diesels are finicky and noisy and dirty and require a lot of attention seasonally. Just my 2 cents.

My friend has a newer F250 with the 6.7 powerstroke. When I tow my boat, the truck hates steep hills and will run 3000 rpm in 4th going up some of them. His truck tows my boat at 1500 rpm's and the needle never moves when we go up hills. The turbo pressure jumps about 2 psi and that's it. lol

Diesels are expensive when they break(out of warranty)
Diesel fuel is currently more expensive than unleaded so factor that into the slightly higher mpg
Exhaust fluid is an additional cost
Diesel oil changes are more expensive
The initial cost of the diesel is outrageous

I'm not anti-diesel, but unless you NEED that towing power on a regular basis it's a waste.

Have you considered the EcoBoost F150? I'd love to have/mod one of those. :burnrubber:

I have my 2005 prerunner and a 2012 Nissan Navara diesel that is part of my work fleet. After 100,000 miles, these little diesel engines start to shake like hell, and f.. with turbo and related injection system. You can save on fuel for short term, but at end, costly maintenance and repairs will overpass that of a gasoline engine.

I have a 02 Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4. I love it but will be listing it for sale soon, it's a little overkill for my needs.

I just got rid of my 08 Dodge Cummins with 54k miles on it. What a nightmare. Check engine lights all the time due to dpf and egr crap. If I ever get another diesel it'll be a 12v cummins with a stick or a 7.3 powerstroke

Numbers are not out yet BUT the engine cod get as good as 28-29mpgs plus it will give an estimated tow capacity of 12k lbs. which is exactly what my '02 Super Duty can do. Current F150's are around 10k lbs with the turbos.

So it will provide better fuel economy, towing, and longevity. I love the idea of being able to get 20-25 years out of my mods.
I will wait to see how the diesel does but if not I'll go Eco Boost. Maybe by then they will have a V8 Ecoboost

My take is unless you are constantly towing just get gas these newer diesels ain't what they used to be with all this emissions crap and maintenance is significantly more and you also have def too deal with

I think the 2017 EB F150 is actually over 12k lbs.

I was just in the market.

Diesel does not pay out. The gas savings are offset by the higher cost of fuel, maintenance is more, way more expensive to fix broken stuff, not to mention the premium you pay to buy it to begin with.

The diesel love is retarded. Unless of course you are pulling heavy loads.

I own a 1998 Hummer with 32,000 miles. It has a Detroit diesel 6.5 turbo. Too many mods to list.003.jpg IMG_0164.jpg
