I just bought a set of seat belts from a member here, planning to soak them for a few hours in a nice soapy solution. I've already wound the spring in my current belts, and it helped for a couple days but now it's back to useless. I figured this way I could let them soak and still be able to drive the truck with the current belts.

yes, if you're ok with drilling the floor then just make sure to use a large washer on the underside and you will be just fine.

Drilling the floor....Not so much. I live in a rust prone area and I'm hesitant to do anything that might ruin the structural integrity of the metal and/or introduce water and mosture. Or is it not as big as a deal as I fear?

If you drill it spray it with some rustoleum and then seal the hole with some water proof silicon or some RTV junk. If you are worried about that i guess. don't want it rusting out and turning into a flintstone mobile :)

if you are going to drill holes in the floor don't rush it

drill holes and test fit, remove everything, sand and clean hole, round file the hole smooth then brush on some high quality primer on it, then brush on some decent quality oil based paint over the primer. when its all dry, then and only then install the seats and as mentioned use some water proof silicon or some RTV junk on both sides of the holes.

you might think it will last years no matter what but you would be surprised how fast things start rusting and water can get causing mold and carpet rot, not to mention your truck quickly smells like a dead wet dog inside if its not sealed well from water getting in and you wouldn't believe how much water gets sprayed all up under your truck in the rain.

If you don't want to drill through your floor, I suggest just grinding off the divot holding the 4th bracket from your tacoma seat, then doing the same on the 4runner one, swapping those. I can't look right now, but I read a thread on here where the guy does that. I'll try and find it later. Honestly for $10, you can't go wrong. I'd definitely ask for more photos before driving 3 hours though. The seats I picked up had a much nicer photo, then I got there, and they were really dirty. Luckily i was able to clean them up to my satisfaction

I did a seat swap to 2000 4Runner leather seats. It's a bit of work to make them for right. In my case only the two holes closest to the center of the truck lined up. I welded my other mounts from my old seats onto the seat rails. Just took a little measuring and time...

those are clean leather seats. Most people don't know how or fail to oil the seats, and they are almost always cracked on the driver side. What did you score those for, price wise, if you don't mind me asking?

Paid $150 for the pair of them. They were in a local wrecking yard and they had some surface mold. Nothing a good treatment with Lexol cleaner and then another two treatment with Lexol conditioner couldn't take care of though. They cleaned up great and are still super supple, I clean and condition them twice a year.

I heard of having left over nuts and bolts but ummmm, I think you forgot to put the head back on lol

why didn't you just swap out the whole seat track assembly? the bolt pattern to the seat frames are exactly the same, or should have been

The seat tracks are different between 60/40 bench and buckets

The seats looked like shit but they were still comfy. Luckily I know how to sew (and have access to a machine) so I can easily reapholsterthem(SP?) them if they don't clean up OK. I also got the roof rack from the 4runner (fo freeee) looks like it MIGHT fit. That I'll probably get put on by someone hi knows more about this than I do because I don't want water leaking onto my head from drill holes lol.

well just a note of caution, I have seen a few posts lately about headliners so I think they are a real bitch to deal with or even find anyone who knows how to deal with them, so think carefully if you really need it before tempting opening the proverbial can of worms

as noted in my previous post, a good wet vac + good fabric cleaner did wonders. I also would suggest buying a good brush. The trick is getting one thats not too soft, but not hard enough that you tear the shit out of the seats. Harder to find than it sounds, to be honest.

I got this brush and this cleaner: the brush was $12 when i bought it (still pricey) and the cleaner was $10. That with the home depot wet vac really did the trick. The water was disgusting afterward.
    Good luck

Couple of pics on the seats. One of the wings is crushed a bit on the driver's side seat but overall they're not bad.

    OME and worth every penny.
Definitely, I used to find cheap Camrys with sludge engines for 500 bux or so. People that didn't change oil didn't usually clean much either so I'd pull everything out and wash it.....soap and water, brush. Hard to believe what comes out of seats and carpet but man, they brought top dollar when through and smelled soooo much better.

The road so far: clearly I'm doing something wrong as only 2 of 4 holes line up.

Do I legally even need a front seat? I kind of like having empty space there.

I could probably grind the brackets off the 4runner seat rails and then bolt the Tacoma brackets on.
