I need a front bilstein 5100 if anyone has 1 laying around. The thread on the current one I have will no longer hold the nut and bushing on there due to stripped threads..that's another story.Willing to pay shipping.if you don't want to part them then I'll buy both.LMK what you have

Bilstein 5100s. Eibach 2.5 inch #620 Coils. Grill Swap, Chrome to Super White. 17" Pro Comp 7032 rims. General Grabber AT2 265/70r17. K&N drop in Air Filter. LED interior lights. 5000k HID headlight & fogs. CB Radio Installed. Dipped badges.
I also just had one of my front 5100 threads go out on me and I am just throwing OR take offs on it (2wd didnt really NEED 5100s) I'll have the spare (good) shock out probably Friday if you want it.

Edit: I have top hats and all hardwear for mounting included. Also, it has around 15k highway miles, no off-road.

Is this a common problem on the 5100s?

No I don't think so.I think the shop that installed the lift is 99% of the reason for the stripped threads. It first started out as just being cross threaded.then I took them off to adjust the rake a bit and noticed it the threads on 1 strut. Then it no longer would thread on.I haven't heard of any other 5100 threads being stripped due to being cross threaded.Operator error at this point

Ok, this is the first time I've heard of it but two people on the same page of the same thread made me wonder!

No it is definiaitly not, I just had issues with the rubber bushing wearing out allowing the shock to kinda rub free and "walk around" in the top hat. Once I removed the nut to repair it one of threads on the 5100 was chipped and unable to thread a new nut.

Attached is what my threads looked like once I removed the nut, not stripped, but the threads damaged.

That happened on my wife's X5. The rubber part separated and it damaged some of the threads. I was able to fix the threads with a file though.

I'm sure I could fix it and keep the 5100s with my Eibach coils but honestly I'm 2wd and hardly off-road so I'm going to go back to stock shocks/coils and just pop a spacer in there for clearance with my tires; and gain my stock ride quality back. The eibach/5100 combo was nice but rough for the daily drive IMO.
