I've ran my icons for 2+ years with zero issues. I wheel hard and I daily my truck. Sorry for the issues. But their products aren't garbage. Also Todd at icon has been very helpful.

I wouldn't say garbage...I would say ____________ designed. (badly, weirdly, quickly, unintentionally, didn't think it through)

I have still yet to see someone start a thread showing their Kings that failed in a similar fashion though. I linked a post where the guy mentioned the top hats and it being a common problem. Other people have chimed in here with similar info, not to mention the OP with said top hat breakage. You can blame it on the driver, the install, wrong application, etc, but people with Kings drive their trucks the same way, install the shocks themselves, etc, and I don't see a single thread started by someone complaining about their failed King, or people posting about a known weakness in design. So either we have a giant case of coincidence or people are just too brand loyal to admit fault. Either way, I'll be getting Kings to greatly decrease my chance of having to park my truck for weeks at a time while I wait for replacement parts due to a weakness/coincidence.

Copy and paste of the post I referred to for reference.

That said Icon seems to be the popular choice so with more on the market comes a increased chance to see failures.

This issue was supposedly rectified with a stronger material and from the guy I know Icon did replace his top hats free of charge. If your not able to do the work yourself something like this will cost you and even if you do it yourself its time lost.

luckily my buddy had a spare OE shock at home so they were only stuck out in the woods until 5am that night and Icon did replace the shock for free.....

please note this damage wasn't from guys jumping their trucks. the top hat failures are well known and the second incident occurred on a medium/soft sand hill climb when the driver hit a rut

Yeah, I'm going to call bullshit on all the above. You don't snap a shock tower bucket hitting a rut. You snap a bucket by bottoming out the shock to the point it has no where to go but be shoved up through the mount. This take a really hard hit to do that amount of damage. And to snap a shock shaft you have to be doing something stupid.

I'm not trying to poke the bear, but both of these failures look like an awful lot of preload...

**Edit - This is almost twice as much as the OP's original post it looks like.

Yup I'm sure out of the hundreds of failures EVERY SINGLE one of them was doing something stupid...yup

    It's a shitty design...get over it.

I got to agree with you there thats a crazy amount of preload. Considering that Icons are digressive to begin with, I wonder if their front rode like a brick? I think my kings had like 7 threads max showing.

Guess only smart people buy Kings then since I don't see multiple King failure threads? King should start a new ad campaign,
"Kings - The suspension for smart people."

Not quite. Maybe I'll make something up anyway with hopes of them wanting to use it in exchange for a shiny new top-of-the-line suspension.
