Let my brother drive and he rolled it, almost killed us. I took them off the old and put them on the new with no issues. Kind of irrelevant I just find it ridiculous that icons can break the top mount like that.

I honestly believe due to the design of the Icon top hats, that excessive preload beyond a certain limit will be detrimental to their failure after seeing all these photos of them. With that being said, I think King can have the same affect if cranked down enough. Would be curious to see the failure of that spring, but remember the coils themselves are the wear item on a shock. Part of the reason why some race teams junk them after each race. On a side note, I saw a thread where a guy's kings coil spring died on his drivers side. After telling King, they sent him a new coilover and had him ship them the old one. Springs are one thing, top hats that are specific and unique to the shock itself, shouldnt be a failure point as that is directly attached to the vehicle itself by the coil bucket. I agree that the photo looks a little weird.

You are correct. Max pre load is 2.13 as mentioned by Icon. That brings you to about 24 threads showing I have mine maxed on one side for leveling purposes the other said is only about 20 thread or just under 2"'s and thats the amount I am counting . In the photo I count 28 threads he is indeed over the recommended amount. Now with that being said I have two blown Icon coil overs that are less than 6 months old both leaking fluid like hell. I do not jump or do rock crawling. Minor pre running which even the stock coil overs handle fine. My assessment is Icon is crap. i will be replacing mine asap.

way better then rancho. not bad shocks that are prone to leak. so if you are a person that likes to tinker with shocks, FOA isnt a bad choice. when buying them you should open them and check them.

    Dear Icon Coilover,
We had a long run together and it's been fun. I want you to know there are no hard feelings. We can still be friends. I will always remember the good times together, and that one time when you broke.

    Sincerely,
    BBTacosurfer
