I'll be headed to Moab for the first time next Tuesday and also offroading my 14 DCSB for the first time. We are doing 4 days and I'm trying to get my truck back with as little damage/wear as possible. Any info/experience would be greatly appreciated. I have several years in a jeep in the hills of Colorado, so I'm not new to offroading just new to IFS and a double cab truck offroading. H lip me keep my bumpers where they are.

    Day 1 - fins n things
Day 2 - seven mile rim
Day 3 - Kane creek, hurrah pass, Lockhart basin, Lockhart canyon
Day 4 - gemini bridges, gold bar, golden spike, PSM

A little info in the rig-
    6sp manual
    2.5" OME LIFT
    33" tires
RCI sliders and full under carriage skids

Wheeling in Moab is so much fun. Personally, I've only done Shafer Trail (the switchbacks), Potash Rd and up Long Canyon Road to Pucker Pass. I've also done Gemini Bridges a few times. They are all pretty mild, you won't have any issue there. I'm sure some more experienced people will jump in soon.

Passing through Moab beginning of May. Would you say Gemini bridges is a good trail to run if I'm just looking to cruise. My truck is all stock so I want to be fairly easy on it, as pathetic as that probably sounds.

I'll be running it the first time myself on the 30th, hopefully some guys will have more insight.

You won't have any issues doing Gemini in a stock truck. I've done it a couple of times stock with no issues.

I ran Kane Creek Canyon last year at RT and I can absolutely without a doubt guarantee you that you will possibly come out of that trail with some damage with stock bumpers. The last part of the trail, the climb out of the canyon, was pretty gnarly and I'm sure it's been washed out even more since I ran it last year.

I appreciate the info. My truck isn't stock so I'm a little unsure how to take ur opinions and make a good decision on my truck making it. I know in the end I'll either just have to go with it or not but looking for insight with a 3" lift and 33's

I edited my post...sorry for the confusion. You should be ok riding on 33"s and a 3" lift. From the picture you posted, it sure looks like you have stock bumpers front and rear. And again, I can guarantee you that you will damage the front and or rear on the climb out of Kane Creek. Only pic I could find of the climb out of the canyon last year at RT, and this pic makes it look rather tame. I can only assume that the climb out of the canyon has gotten worse since last year...

I am running stock bumpers for now and that is a big concern, hoping the lift and tired will keep them in good shape. I will be replacing them but not for awhile so keeping them in good shape is pretty important to me. Nice truck, where u at in CO ?

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I personally wouldn't run Kane with your truck the way it is now. It's not a mild trial you will have some beat up bumpers at the least. There was quite a few Broken rigs on Kane last year so there is a high factor for that. Its really my one of my favorite trails in MOAB but i would build your truck up a little more before hitting it. Also if your traveling alone i would defiantly not run it as well if there is rain in the forecast the week before or even the day of it can turn into a river really quick and you could be in a world or problems.

I didn't even think of that, but Jerry brings up some very good points. If there has been any rain in the week before you run it or on the day you run it there could be big problems, plus it's not a trail you want to run solo. Be safe out there!

Thanks for the info I'll just run the camera and jump in with the jeeps for that one. Next year I should have lockers and bumpers, I'll wait till then.

I went through there last year during memorial day and it was pretty bad then. In your picture it looks a little more mellower. None the less awesome pic.

So I noticed this thread has been dropped into a thread as pre trip reference for some guys out in bama. I ended up going to Moab and ran the trails listed above without any real trouble, but. From my experience skids are an absolute must, I went with RCI METALWORKS in Colorado and ran there full set of aluminum skids and steel rock sliders and it was worth every penny. The DC Tacomas have a low belly and it became very evident when you miss judge the break over angle on an obstacle. I also ran a hitch skid made by skid mark and it saved my rear bumper at least 20 times.

I'll be headed back this year (May 10-20th) with the same 2 jeeps I ran with last year (check the end for the trail list). We have made a few changes for 2017. CB radios didn't work worth a shit, we opted to swap out our cbs and are going to run the ruggedradios.com 25w radios with one handheld for the spotter.

    https://www.ruggedradios.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1167_1168&products_id=1873

We also scrapped the meal plan, do to long days and unpredictable finish times. We instead are doing lunch and grabbing dinner a the store each day or just eating out. In the end we didn't feel like it's any more expensive as long as you hold off on drinks till back at camp. Also the alcohol thing in Utah is a huge pain in the ass. I'd say we are moderate drinkers but are defiantly on a guys trip and cut loose AFTER we clear the trail. We settled on a case for the group and 3 handles per guy this year.

My opinion only, if anyone is on the fence about a compressor or CO2 for trail air, we ran the CO2 tanks and they where awesome. We used 2 tanks and still had some left after filling 2 rigs on 33's and 1 running 35's. The group I off road with are very like minded and like to remove as many moving parts as possible. A tank with a valve and regulator is not likely to fail or burn up. Just my 2 cents.

I hope this helps a little there truely is nothing like moab when it comes to offroading. I you guys have any questions or want any pics of trails let me know. The trail book you have listed is also an absolute must. I'll check back in with you guys when it gets a little closer and maybe run into you in May. Good luck
