I suggest that you have your starting battery and charging system tested to determine that they are in good condition to deal with ambient temperatures forecasted when you are planning to come to Montana. Most auto parts stores and places that sell batteries, e.g., Wal Mart, will test them free. Temperatures below freezing significantly reduce the battery's performance and capacity. Also battery jumper cables or starter could be useful if you encounter a battery problem.

All I use a small "smart" temperature compensated battery charger with a fused quick disconnect tethered to my vehicle in our unheated garage to keep the OEM battery fully charged and full synthetic engine oil. I had no trouble starting my engine at low (so far) of -23 degrees F. Driving habits, especially during inclement weather in the Winter or short distances (<5 miles) have a significant effect on keep the battery fully charged with the OEM charging system. Large aftermarket electrical loads just exacerbate the problem.

Keeping the battery fully charged and good preventive maintenance are the secrets for long battery service life.

Truck is 3-4mo old so I think battery should be in good condition, but will have it tested beforehand. I also have one of those Antigravity XP-1 battery jump packs), so hopefully it actually works (havent had to jump start anybody yet)...

I would make sure that XP-1 is fully charged. All batteries lose charge sitting. The rate depends on the chemistry and temperature. Please have a safe trip and enjoy our bluebird days or Spring skiing. This time of the year the snow melts during the day and refreezes into black ice during the night or in shady spots and the tires can lose traction.

How long have you lived in Bozeman and how do you like it? I'm currently near Denver, and Bozeman could be in the cards for later this year.

I'm all about outdoors, mountain biking, camping and would like to get away from the huge city atmosphere.

I've been here almost 11 years. Not so bad. Lots of transplants so it's not a real montana town anymore in some ways. Plenty to do and mountains in every direction.

I have lived in Bozeman almost five years and love it. Reminds me of Ft. Collins in the 80's except it is surrounded by mountains.

Been here 11 years. Town keeps getting bigger. Everyone comes to visit and then moves here.

Beautiful places to go year round. Skiing, fishing, hiking, camping, hunting... all within 45 minutes of town.

As @MTgirl suggested it isn't a true Montana town though... I'll leave it at that for fear of being banned.

If you're outdoorsy, like a thriving walking downtown area, organic co-op, stuff like that, you'll love it here.

Fucking BozAngeles... Moving from Denver though, you'll probably feel as though it's a quaint little city.

I'm more of a "Montana town" kinda person though.

It's a great place to live if you can put up with all the non-Montana stuff. ;) But yes. BozAngeles is what we call it. lol Even those of us who live here.

    Thanks for the input.

I've been here in the Denver area for three years now... and have continually moved away from the city. I'm in the foothills now in Golden. Nothing is set in stone, but its a possibility for around fall. I've been meaning to spend time up there to check it out, but haven't yet.

I'm technically a CO native (Fort Collins). Haven't been there for 15-20 years though. Spent most of my days in Phoenix/Tucson. Came here from AZ (moved with a Bozeman native). So I got to claim my local-ness via marriage. Most folks tell me after 10 years you can claim to be a 'local'. But - that's usually coming from folks who weren't born here. o_O

I think we need to build a wall and decide who gets to move here based on the vehicle they drive... and some other stuff I can't discuss on TW. lol :crapstorm:
