I've been doing some light to medium off roading, I have 32's and 5100's set at 2 1/2 inch of lift. Just noticed that my driver's side upper left ball joint on the control arm is creaking.

When getting in and out of the truck is when its doing it but when you get on the running boards and really crank down on the front their nice and quite WTF Batman.

Truck has 64,000 miles and has been pretty babied looking for suggestions and knowledge. From what I understand about these specific joint usually its when they become dry over a long period of time is what usually causes the failure. I did do some light mudding awhile back but to cause a failure I'll be pissed.

Also, on a side note by hand if I press press down on the joint when the truck is parked I can get it to creak by compressing the controll arm down just 1/8 maybe less then that. But, just working the joint up and down a little, I don't get it no driving issues or creaking heard while i'm turning or even wheeling.

Be ready to replace that ball joint. If it creaks it is dry and needs replacing. Be safe and replace that ball joint as soon as possible.

Are you sure it's the ball joint and not your strut.
